Branbot: I know of at least 24 Nazi leaders that were tried and executed.

I'm pretty sure there are 24 members of Al Qaeda awaiting trial. So, it should be square.

thehumanh: You guys are trying to get too damn serious here.

This story was supposed to be about the simple & joyful image of a child super-soaking the Veep's khaki's while shouting "Joe Biden wets himself, he wets himself!"

Yeah I know. Still the opportunity rose to bash the "both sides" bullshiat mentality since the occasion arose...

Branbot: We're just talking about a handful big al-Qaeda players that could've easily been brought in within just the last few months.

It's not a police action. We're at war. In war you kill the enemy. You only try (and execute) them if they surrender or the war is over.

If you're a terrorist, we will hunt you down and kill you. Without mercy, pause, or contemplation. With efficiency, expediency, and extreme prejudice.

This is something Bush should've been doing for eight years.

whidbey: Branbot: whidbey: Branbot: If you're going to sit here and tell me with a straight face that Obama is not responsible for a single death overseas I think we can end this discussion right here. That's just blind stupidity. This isn't a conspiracy, this is just cold hard facts and you refuse to look at them.

Obama did not initiate two failed unjustified wars that will end up costing this country several trillion dollars, untold casualties and repercussions from anti-American terrorist groups.

That was Bush/Cheney, and I wouldn't be using the word "facts" in a sentence here. They greatly outweigh your laughable contentions.

/lost cause

No, a "lost cause" is trying to have a discussion with someone who doesn't understand what happened the past 10-12 years.

Let me guess, "Ron Paul?" Because that would explain a lot.

Nope, his foreign policy is pure craziness. It sounds like a nice idea but it's a little too late for any of that. I just hate all politicians in general. It's safer that way.

Not really practical, though, especially since we live in a republic based on representative democracy. Life is politik. You can't hate human nature forever.

The combination of realizing that VP is the highest office he will ever hold along with being of the 'I don't give a fark what anybody thinks' age leads him to speak his mind and play it off the cuff more often than most politicians.

I have enormous respect for the man.

/grew up in Delaware and had lunch with him on a middle school field trip

You have enormous respect for the man who was behind the whole Napster fiasco in the 90s, who sponsored legislation similar to POPA/SIPA and who has the RIAA/MPAA in his pockets? Is it because he is on your team?

How is this for PIPA/SOPA?

He was doing it, the news just never made a big deal about it. He also was randomly locking up people caught in the battlefield and torturing them.

Obama allowed drone strikes to help expedite the American withdrawal from the region.

I love these totally disingenuous arguments.

So destabilizing Pakistan, thereby giving jihadists the opportunity to seize nuclear weapons = "Cleaning up the Bush/Cheney foreign policy mess"

/I mean, if, say, the Soviets had stayed in Afghanistan following some major power shift and extended their war to Pakistan, would we have said they we're cleaning up the mess? Or would we say they ought to end their illegal occupation as soon as possible, and, if nothing else, not bring it to other countries?

Again, you're clearly unwilling to understand that said actions were consequences of Bush adminstration policy, and that we had little choice but to deal with the damage, yes even if that means fighting in Pakistan.

"Glorious" would have been reading an updated scathing indictment of the Bush/Cheney years, and how lamentable it is that we didn't put most of the Bush Cabinet up on trial for war crimes.

Instead, it's turning into an apology for the past 10 years.
