How much is that in trees?

According to Google, one Swedish aspen can make 400,000 matchsticks. I assume a tooth pick is similar in size. However, other trees can produce as many as 1,000,000 matchsticks, so even with considerable wastage, the fool has only stolen one tree. A good birch tree is worth about $2,000 or so.

As usual, I have answered my own question.
