tomWright: "subby reaped all the sweet rewards"

Yeah, a GF once told me eating a lot of ginger-root would make the 'rewards' sweet. But we broke up before the experiment was complete.

Anyone want to pick up the experiment? I'll supply the ginger-root

Guava or pineapple. Lots of it. And a video camera.

Yeah those tube sites are sure killing porn. What with their partnerships with pay sites, their active posting of short clips with URLs imbedded as advertisements for pay sites, and their aggressive policing of full-length content from said pay sites.

Zizzowop: I've always been under the impression that the porn industry created the Internet.

damn right it did.

who makes your whites whiter and your colors brighter? Porn!

who whops, chops, slices and dices effortlessly? Porn!

who makes your floors shine brighter and your house smell great? Porn!

--- what happened to the protesters of porn that shouted women were being exploited? they yelled that since the 70's when porn left underground and hit regular theatres.

my guess is the hundreds of thousands of amateur loops regular people have made and put online in the last 15 years are proof that adults do porn of their own free will.

L.D. Ablo: BumpInTheNight: Author sounds very sheltered and how shall I say this...'dainty'.

Sounds like you've swallowed his bait.

I've been a big fan of Louis since I first came across him on Michael Moore's "TV Nation" many years ago.

Theroux comes across as innocent and harmless so people trust him and open up. Then he puts the dagger in. He has an enormous pair, too. He "inadvertently" mocks white supramacists, militia freaks and other assorted fruits and nuts. The "innocent" approach is the only thing that keeps him from getting his ass kicked.

See if you can find any of his "Weird Weekend" shows to watch. Hysterical. Few shows have as many laughs.

It really is the only way to talk to any kind of person.

Oh, I forgot, this is FARK, where it's cool to degrade and exploit women because it pissed off the Christians.

... Wow. You might want to pull that Sequoia out of your ass. I don't know about anyone else, but the one thing I never think about when watching porn is whether or not it's going to upset religious people. (And let's completely ignore the fact that the highest rates of online and pay-per-view porn consumption occur in heavily religious places. We wouldn't want that fact that many Christians like to pop a nut get in the way of your BS narrative.)

As for this "degrade and exploit women" horseshiat... if being in porn degrades women, does it not also degrade men? Or are you pulling this whole "sexually active women are sluts and sexually active men are studs" double-standard?

Yes, but while every (US) Marine is a rifleman, every porn guy is a swordsman.

Not all women feel that way. I for one really enjoy hardcore porn, the more degrading to women the better, generally. I find porn directed to be for women's tastes horrifyingly dull, and not at all moisturizing IYKWIM

I'm a fan of kink.com. Their stuff is categorized by fetish, consistent quality, consistently stays in niche, they turn out new stuff on a regular schedule, they provide enough preview material and "storyline" material to determine if you really want that particular video or not.

They used to let you watch as many previews as you wanted, no limit--obviously there were too many free riders who only watched the free preview clips (guilty). So they put a limit on it, but they still leave enough for you to know what you're buying.

I will probably break down and occasionally buy some of their stuff, just because their stuff for pay is better than what I can find surfing at random. The thing that creeps me out surfing at random is a couple of times I've had a search hit a foreign site with what looked like teenagers to me, and I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I'm hyper-paranoid about having the wrong crap end up on my computer.

If people only had things they wanted and downloaded on purpose on their computers, we wouldn't have to work so hard at installing anti-virus software and keeping it up to date.

With pay porn, from a trusted site, you're not taking as many risks of what kind of skanky site you're going to and who you're letting feed files to your system. And some sites, like kink.com, offer at least some of their new content initially as scheduled, live webcam events, either pay per view or subscriber. So people who are into that are getting performance value they can't get with the free, amateur sites.

The thing is, the "degrading" is always quite clearly presented as not real, because at the very end of every clip there is always a short debrief of the actress where she's in a robe and she's being interviewed about the shoot and how much fun she had. It's the difference between a stuntman doing crazy driving on a movie set and a criminal doing crazy driving in real rush hour traffic where people could really die.

That's what I'm into, that's what does it for me. But the important part about it is that I know it's not real. I know that actress wants to be there. I know that actress could say, "Whoa, stop, this is freaking me out." -- and everything would stop, right then. And probably some have. It's especially easy if it's not a live performance--you stop the scene, address the problem, and if she can go on, you go on.

But it's definitely not the job for everybody. Acting is not the right job for everybody. To do it well, you have to make yourself into somebody else, and if you're not too sure of who you are in the first place, that can be pretty destabilizing.

We kind of have to let people make their own mistakes and go to hell in their own way. In case you hadn't noticed, the economy sucks ass. If I was the right age and desperate to feed and house a couple of kids and that's what it took, and that was the best option I had, I'd do it to feed my kids.

If that's what some gal thinks she needs to do to get by, I'm not going to rain on her parade. There are all kinds of better jobs out there, but maybe she can't get those jobs. For example, if a gal is gorgeous but made a couple of mistakes and has a record--I think porn is one of the industries that just might not deny her a job because of her bad reputation.

People do what they've gotta do.

Three things...

1) We already have all the porn that we want, and, it's not advancing. Forget piracy. There is 40 years of porn you can get to download. Why will people pay a premium to see new porn, when there's plenty of old porn out there? I can pay $17 for Barely Legal 2, while Barely Legal 30 will cost $30. Will both feature hot, young babes that I will blow my load to? So why will I pay for the new film.

2) The new films actually aren't very good in so many ways. There used to be some imagination, some production values. No, it was never Citizen Kane, but today's pornos are simply meat entering meat. There's never anything surprising in there.

3) The homemade porn is actually better. No fake tits, far more heat. Yeah, some of them are fat, ugly or old, but there's plenty of films with pretty women on sites like pornbb or porn-w. Best porno I've seen recently was shot on a phone, with a guy leaving a nightclub with a woman and nailing her in the alley round the back.

2012-06-09 04:05:55 PM
Oh, and if the porn industry wants a tip, make streaming services where guys have a cover story. Create a site with a subscription that includes stuff other than porn. It doesn't have to be amazing stuff, just convincing enough that you can say to your wife when she asks you about your credit card, "oh yeah, that's the classic sports site I watch".

Digital Communist: WhippingBoy: Digital Communist: It's possible, you know, that Jon Dough had a great life that he chose for himself surrounded by people he loved. But he was sick, and it took his life.

Didn't the article say he killed himself because of his coke addiction?

FTA written by the guy who obviously wants to portray porn in the worst light possible: "But when he killed himself in 2006 at the age of 43 it was widely assumed that the woes of the industry - and specifically declining DVD sales - played a role."

My point was that if he killed himself, then he was very likely sick. It wasn't the porn industry that killed him as the author is boldly implying.

I think where I would partly side with the journalist is that the porn industry attracted a dysfunctional/sick person and made/allowed him to get sicker.

Or, another way I'd put would be the porn industry was part of the downward spiral of "Jon Dough" getting sicker.

Interestingly, you compared him (I think it was you) to the pastor of a church killing himself and everybody lamenting how tragic depression is and that he was sick and the illness killed him.

In a way, it's very ironic that you chose that example, because while you no doubt meant to choose opposites, you chose two examples of the same thing: Things dysfunctional people reach out for when they're broken that don't make their brokenness better.

In the case of Jon Dough, he was looking for validation through the glamour of stardom and being a porn star Super Stud. And of course when he got there, it wasn't what he expected at all, it all just turned to dust in his hands, it didn't solve his problems for him. He was still broken. He was still sick. And because he wasn't getting the sickness treated, he got sicker.

In the case of your hypothetical pastor, he was looking for validation through salvation and a life of service to God. And of course when he got there, it wasn't what he expected at all. It didn't solve his problems for him. He was still broken. He was still sick. And because he wasn't getting the sickness treated, he got sicker.

In both cases it's the same thing---the false hope that comes from what they think their chosen answer will do for them distracts them from actually addressing their underlying problem in a constructive way that successfully manages the problem.

The difference with religion is that some sects/denominations have a better track record than others, in general, of being open-minded and encouraging their clergy and their members to seek outside treatment for mental and physical health issues.

Others take a "pray it away" approach to the symptoms of depression that's just as appalling as if they were substituting prayer for insulin for a diabetic.

So yeah, irony.

I wouldn't say the state of the porn industry is likely to have caused Jon Dough's "sense of failure"---but I find it tough imagining that it helped.

Actress Bobbi Starr (not pictured above) noted of Siffredi, "[A]ny girl in the industry who has been with him . . . will tell you that they have done things with him that they [would] never do with anyone else."[7] Speaking of his female partners, Siffredi says, "I want to see emotion . . . fear . . . excitement . . . the eyes going up from being surprised."[8]

Yeah, that kind of surprised me, too. I generally thought the spitting thing was icky and having it treated as hot was one of those moments for skepticism, "What, do people really like this?"

I guess it would ruin the illusion of porn for them to admit how badly they need artificial lube.

The guy with the tat on his left pec looks much better without oil than with. Ah, for the opportunity to convince him of this....

Women exist to be commented upon, not to hold the power of commenting. That's nature, and business as usual.

Besides, the number of women who are vocal about being sickened or feel dis-at-ease at looking at penis far outnumber the number of women who are vocal about enjoying looking at penis. Women will say they enjoy the feel of penis, and riding penis and all that good stuff, but enjoying the penis just for being penis, in the same way men enjoy titties and/or ass just for being titties and/or ass? No, not going to find those women being the vocal majority in mixed company.

As for the dudes in the photos above, they all look homogay. Very beautiful bodies, but no evidence at this time that they're being beautiful for women instead of for other men (which can be erotic, for some women) or for their mirrors (which is not, for many women). What attracts women is how a man acts. Place a very beautiful man on the screen and make him an unrepentent creep, and he will lose to the schmoopie-pie schmuck who stands up to him. Make that same very beautiful man-creep someone who appears to be a schmoopie-pie schmuck who just needs someone who understands him to bring out his schmoopie-pieness................. then we have a Pretty in Pink situation where the Rich Guy Wins After All.

That doesn't work for men. Men are very visual, and will choose the beautiful biatch over the plain (or ugly) sweetheart. Again, that's nature, and business as usual. Men aren't in the business of doing the work of teasing out the inner supermodel, just move on to the next one while keeping the old one as insurance. (Dudes talk shiat in a lot of threads about women never not being in a relationship, without realizing they pull the same shiat, the masculine version.)

Erebus1954: KiwDaWabbit: The piracy argument, by and large, is a non sequitur.

The only way you can have lost revenue is if someone had the intention of purchasing of purchasing the product in the first place. By and large, the (pirating) decisions thought process results in a choice between pirating and not pirating, not pirating in the place of a purchase.

Yes. Just like a stolen car is not a lost sale for Ford.

The two are not comparable at all.

A car theft constitutes compensatory damages. An illegal download constitutes nominal damages.

Big media, of course, has brainwashed the masses into believing that their revenue streams are being decimated by illegal downloading. No, no, no, antiquated distribution platforms have nothing to do with it. Never mind that some media companies happen to be doing very well thanks to actually competing and innovating while others have decided that lawsuits will be their next big revenue stream.

Note that I'm not condoning the practice of illegal downloading, but the damage it does to various media industries pales in comparison with the incompetence of their own executive teams.
