You know who else liked the Olympics but should have been sent home to Austria?

2012-06-09 09:36:30 AM
Why stupid? We frown upon gun culture in this country.

Also, more importantly, one of the morons of the two was only recently put through a very public assault case against a fellow swimmer. His rich parents were the only reason he didn't get sent to prison and removed from the Olympic squad. The guy is a moron and deserves what he is getting.

Whatthehell?

2012-06-09 10:26:29 AM
Geez. Couldn't they have at least taken off their shirts before taking the pics? That would have made things more interesting. Also, really? Posing for pictures? It's not like they purchased the guns.

Wow, they really have beaten the gunphobia into that entire country.

How oh how could intelligent people ever not want anything to do with a device invented and solely used for hurting, threatening, and killing.

So, what you're saying is, he was punished not for assaulting a fellow teammate, but instead for upsetting a bunch of panty-waists. You're OK with that? Posing with guns is not illegal in Australia or America.

The Australians are basically telling everybody that posing with guns is worse than assaulting someone, BECAUSE GUNS RRRRRBAAAADDDD!!!!!

Duck hunting in Australia is under attack by whackos, and they've got HUGE populations of invasive waterfowl. Ridiculous.

"As a member of the 2012 Australian Olympic Team, and as I have reminded you on previous occasions, it is an honour and a privilege to be a member of an Australian Olympic Team.

he Selection Committee which comprises Green, Deputy Chef Chris Fydler and AOC Secretary-General Craig Phillips, expressed their disappointment saying both athletes were "repeat offenders who had shown poor judgment in their decision-making."

D'Arcy was kicked off the 2008 Olympic team after assaulting former swimmer Simon Cowley in a bar, leaving him with multiple facial injuries. He then declared himself bankrupt last year when a court ordered him to pay Cowley $370,000 in costs.

Last year, Monk avoided charges after telling police he was the victim of a hit and run accident but later confessed he broke his elbow when he fell off his skateboard.

Does Australia field athletes in any of the various Olympic shooting events?

C'mon guys, give him a break. When you're visiting somewhere, part of the fun is to take in and participate in the local culture. There's nothing wrong with that.

In America, pose with guns, maybe go to a shooting range.
In Scotland, go to distilleries and go golfing.
In Mexico, kill and behead members of the local law enforcement.
In the Congo, find some women refugees and rape them before killing them.

No perspective from you guys. None.

It's stupid because a lot of people are acting like pussies and being offended because two people were doing something here that is legal in the U.S.

Oh. My. God.

What a crime!

Hopefully, they'll be executed when they return home. I mean, they touched a gun. Held it even. On purpose!! Hang em high, boys!

Mmmm....yummy Leftist thinking....it is so rational!

Yes, because the avoidance of an inanimate object out of some ridiculous phobia is a great sign of intelligence.

this is beyond stupid. australia you're embarrassing yourself. one would think a nation with such a large outback would understand that guns are on occasion useful tools.

/seriously, what the fark?
//maybe, maybe if they were pointing them at someone

They'd been in trouble before and broke the "Team Membership Agreement" that apparently they had to sign before joining the team.
If you can't comply with the rules that YOU sign, then you face the consequences.
The Australian Olympic swimming team apparently has certain protocol, follow it or get booted from the team.

no, they have all been deported as there were multiple photos of them holding, cleaning, and shooting guns. which as you know shocks and scares all pansy-ass australians.

I bet something similar would happen if US Olympic athletes took pictures of themselves smoking pot in Amsterdam.

I see where you're coming from. but this situation is a little different.....mostly because firearms ownership is legal in Australia....they just can't own the same hardware that I can.

...and they're still on the Olympic team. Which leads to the ultimate "fark you" moment: Each of them blazes through their heats, then in their first finals, each of them gets a clean start...and just surfaces and floats up, not even swimming. It'd be even more hilarious if they were the front leg of the relay team...and the height of hilarity if they were the anchor and Australia had a 3-second lead.

Apples and oranges - a positive pot test can cause you to be DQ-ed from the games. I don't think they test for GSR.

Swimming is serious business in Australia. They'd probably end up getting tossed in the ocean during Box Jelly mating season.

Intelligent people would neither celebrate nor react with fear and loathing simply because someone took a photo with a firearm. Treating this incident as an embarrassment, reacting with shame, is not an intelligent response.

Yes, because the avoidance of an inanimate object out of some ridiculous phobia is a great sign of intelligence.

A) (If you're American) I support the right to bear arms - not the issue here.

B) Why the hell is avoiding guns "some ridiculous phobia"? I mean, isn't respect for the fact that guns are powerful weapons a sign of mental health?

Am I a pansy if I work on my electrical wiring with gloves? Do I have to use my tongue? If I respect electricity does that mean I am opposed to our right to electrical power?

/It seems to me those who experience their gun as their replacement penis are the ones with psychological issues.

Private organizations can have their own codes of conduct and membership rules. Just because an activity is legal, doesn't mean that the AOC has to let them shoot guns or pose with guns.

Let's avoid the hyperbole... No one is reacting with "fear" over a picture.

Treating this incident as an embarrassment, reacting with shame, is not an intelligent response.

No, it is an embarrassment. Essentially, they're employees of the AOC, sent overseas to do their jobs. They can have some fun but they have to be discrete. They instead did something publicly embarrassing to their employer. So, yeah, they're going to have to face the consequences of their stupidity.

Brothels are legal in some countries, as well as parts of Nevada. But if your employer sent you to a conference in one of said countries or in Vegas, and you then posted a photo on a public page linked to your employer of you banging a hooker, do you think your employer would be stupid for treating it as an embarrassing incident and bringing your ass home?
