(Daily Mail)   Remember your "girlfriend in Canada?" This woman invented a whole family, including a dying kid, and kept it up for 10 years. Still no cure for cancer   (dailymail.co.uk) divider line 5

I lost my virginity in HS, to a girl I met when she moved into her grandmother's house, next door to my best friend's. I was 17, she was 18, I was nerdy and long-haired, and she was hot, at least in the way hot was defined in the 80s. She said she moved there because she was on the run from gang members in another city. They were after her because they thought she had killed a baby she had been babysitting, but the baby had died of SIDS. But like I said, she was hot, so I gave her comfort when "the gang members trashed my old house" and "the gang members smashed my mom's car" and my mom even let her move in with us when "my grandmother kicked me out because she's afraid the gang members are going to find me here".

I broke up with her when I found out she was pregnant (when I met her) "by one of the gang members". Which, I admit, was kinda jerkish, but I was 17 and had no interest in being tied to crazy who was having someone else's kid. For a 17-year-old, it was kinda nice, though. Even after we broke up, she still stayed at my house for a couple months, and we ignored each other for the most part. But she'd come down to my room every night, wait until I was done watching Dr. Who on PBS, fark me, and go back up to her room without wanting to cuddle afterwards. In many ways, it was the perfect relationship.

The thing is, it was all true. Every single piece of it. Well, except for one minor piece, maybe.

After she moved out of my house, she was babysitting another baby, who died suddenly. Except this time, the coroner said this wasn't SIDS, this was murder. And when the prosecutor started looking back at the other death, she quickly plead to a life sentence to avoid the chair.

I don't really know if she did it. She wasn't very smart, she was 19 and alone, so she may have plead just because she was scared. She talked to my mom a few times after she was arrested, and claimed innocence. But she was a little crazy, and if she did do it, I think a good attorney would have gone for the insanity defense. The coroner in the original death stood by his SIDS verdict, and I don't know that she was ever charged with anything in the first case, but if I were going to write a PostSecret, it would be:

"I lost my virginity to a serial killer... and I may have gotten her pregnant."

This is nothing new - people have been making crap up to get sympathy and attention from others since, well, forever. It's just easier than ever thanks to the internet.

The unique thing about this story isn't that some young girl created a fictional world - the unique thing is that she got *caught* doing it.

They should reinstate public shaming for people like this. Put her in a pillory right next to "The woman who wasn't there"

/google her if you don't know

In my time on the internet, I've found about a half dozen of these completely delusional, highly detailed psuedo-realities. Usually not even worth pointing out... just walk away and be glad you're not living like that.
