It's $40,000,000 super zombie-killing paint! Just like blended metal, it's totally worth the price. Or, one could learn to shoot and make any load a zombie-killer. Nah... That requires practice and work. That's not my America. 20mm grenade launchers for everyone!

Brass ammo is expensive enough. I'd hate to see what silver ammo costs.

"We sell Zombie targets," said Ramsey Outdoor's Murray. "The paper targets are very popular. And we have a plastic cast one that oozes liquid when you hit it. We don't sell as many of those because they're kind of expensive. But they're good targets."

I went to a range for the first time is many years just last weekend and was astonished by the 'zombie' phenomenon. Not only was there a wide array of zombie targets for purchase but magazines where on the tables whose entire point was various ways of surviving the zombie apocalypse. Proper armament appears to be belt fed heavy weaponry of various types wielded Rambo style. There was even a section on how to avoid getting bitten when engaging the undead hordes hand to hand.

I was afraid to ask just how seriously this was being taken by the clientele there but the 350 pound man with the laser scoped Dirty Harry special shooting a zombie target at 10 feet seemed very serious indeed.

I love how the media is seizing on this in the past week despite the fact this stuff came out almost a year ago. Hornady makes great ammo (I've got a few boxes of the polymer tipped .223, .22WMR, and previously 5.7x28,) but I haven't bought any of this novelty labeled stuff. Great marketing on their part, obviously, since people who don't even own guns are buying it. I find it somewhat irksome at the same time.

The zombie obsession can be given political leanings in both ways. It's all about being able to de-humanize "the others".

They don't really think or feel like we do, so it's okay to slaughter them in mass. And you should fear that close contact with "them" will contaminate you as well.

Extreme Conservatives and Liberals alike use this thought process all the time in political and cultural debate. This is just a new twist on how to get people to follow fascism and/or hyper-nationalism. "They're not like us, so they must be destroyed!"

First of all, they're shiat. They don't do anything any decent +P HP round does for defense, such as the ones made by Gold Dot or Hornady.

They weren't even banned in most places, and were, surprise surprise, totally misrepresented by the media and a frenzy of idiots, many of which were dumbfark cops.

There's no reason for anyone to manufacture such a thing, as they're pointless. See also: Black Talons, which are nothing but typical HP ammo that were given mystical and far-reaching abilities by the media.

Federal law has never prohibited civilian ownership of polytetrafluoroethylene-coated ammunition. Some states do prohibit possession of such ammunition, based upon an entirely false belief that such a coating creates armour-penetrating properties.

Zechariah 14:12
And the LORD will send a plague on all the nations that fought against Jerusalem. Their people will become like walking corpses, their flesh rotting away. Their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.
Zechariah 14:13
On that day they will be terrified, stricken by the LORD with great panic. They will fight their neighbors hand to hand.

Revelation 11:6
These men have power to shut up the sky so that it will not rain during the time they are prophesying; and they have power to turn the waters into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they want.

Revelation 11:8
Their bodies will lie in the street of the great city, which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified.

Revelation 11:11
But after the three and a half days a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and terror struck those who saw them.

Ezekiel 37:10
So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet-a vast army.

Ive got some of the Zmax ammo for my Beretta PX4(9mm Luger 115gr) and DTI AR-15 (.223 Rem/5.56x39 55gr). Good of you to point out that its essentially the same as the regular polymer tipped ammo, called Critical Defense, just a different color tip and novelty boxing. Sadly its fairly expensive and prohibis me stocking up on large quantities. The majority of my ammo is going to to regular JHP and FMJ ammo.

For those that dont know polymer tipped jacketed hollow point ammo (like Zmax and Critical Defense) is simply a polymer (plastic) tipped hollow point round. It is like a regular hollow point, but has a plastic plug in the hollow tip, causing faster and more reliable expansion of the round, and thus more transfer of energy to the target...making it a better stopping/more deadly round.

I'm not sure you can point your finger at one thing, Zombie movies and video games have been a thing for a long time. There is a pretty good argument for blaming terrorism. That angle has been brought up in this thread. There are places on the internet that use Zombie as a euphemism for Muslims/Blacks/Mexicans...Take your pick. I could even argue it is an escape from the threat of terrorism. Brain dead hordes would be dangerous but the mechanics of dealing with them are pretty straight forward... Unlike the prickly question of dealing with terrorism. Though I don't see the Zombie fascination as that(racism) in most cases, I wouldn't accuse someone of being racist just for being into the zombie stuff without good reason.

I've got several hundred rounds each of .45 acp, .45 long colt/.454 casull, .38 special/.357 magnum, 9x19 Luger, .32 acp, .22 mag, and 12 ga,

I've also got reloading dies for all the centerfire ones, about 10,000 primers, and several pounds of powder, and moulds to be able to cast my own projectiles out of lead if I run out of projectiles, and several hundred pounds of lead to make projectiles out of. Hell if I run out of primers I've even got a couple of flintlocks(I'm sure dittybopper approves)

I think ammo will be the least of my concerns if the shiat ever hits the fan.

And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.

-Revelation 9:1-6

Seems the zombies will be created by "locust" bite, and they'll be with us for about five months before they finally die. Headshots may not even kill them, just render them somewhat immobile.

thamike: Eddie_Dean_NY: The zombie obsession can be given political leanings in both ways.

Night of the Living Dead was about Communism and Racism. Dawn of the Dead was about consumerism. And Day of the Dead was a naturalist technophobic manifesto cluttered with an unexplained disdain for Florida. I think.

I'm not getting a 21st century American partisan pissing match vibe.

There are some goofballs out there over-analyzing Zombies/Vampires - Democrats/Republicans who use the whole mindless consumerism commentary to equate Democrats fears of the mindless jingoism and belief in capitalism that Republicans all seem to follow:

Zombies are red, vampires are blue.

When Zombies Win

The left is far less likely to go out and actually hoard ammo, canned goods, and purified water though. They just practice head shots on video games.
