Also, first combined no-hitter in team history. Go Mariners!

WRT the 358: I just hung up with a friend who drives for Metro, and she says there's no way in hell she'd ever drive the 358 route. Nor the 7 (Rainier Valley). We looked at alternatives to getting to Capitol Hill from North Aurora without taking the 358, like walking over to Meridian and catching the 346, but there's just no way that doesn't involve 2 or 3 transfers. Grrr - light rail can't get here soon enough.

Tempted to make the drive down Snoqualmie Pass for this, even though I don't drink. A whole decade of Farkin' and I ain't never been to a Fark Party... I feel remiss.

Huh. It's a looooong way from Wallingford to Capitol Hill. Ok, not really, but I lived at 14th and Howell about 15 years ago so it seems far away. I'm leaving to hike the zion narrows on Monday but I'll be back just in time. Perhaps I'll sear some of Y'all there. Haven't done a weekend night on Broadway in a long time.

Cyclometh: If there's ever a Tacoma Fark Party, it has to be held at The Java Jive. You pansies don't know what a dive is.

Last one was at Tempest on MLK. 2 people showed up. I was one of them. Fark hipster lesbians who make overpriced low-octane shiatty cocktails.

FINALLY I get to attend a Seattle Fark Party! Stoked. See y'all there. :) How will we know each other from the rest of the nerds, drama queens and hipsters?

Hey, Miss Stein, The Latona Pub over near Greenlake would also be awesome for a Seattle Fark Party, and we also have a small upstairs area but no billiards. On the upside, we have an amazing menu and a full bar with excellent wines and rare beers or tap. Just sayin'. :)

Based on the last Fark party I went to in Seattle, you'll walk in and just be able to tell. Really...

Also, take the bus or train...parking on Cap Hill is SATANIC.

I love the Latona Pub! Used to live on 63rd a few years ago, and the pub is where my friends and I would meet for dinner and/or drinks. The farmstead cheese plate and chicken sandwich were my favorites. I didn't know the pub had an upstairs area; is this new?

I'll add the Latona Pub to the list of Fark party destinations to be considered for the next party. Great suggestion. :)

That's odd. I was pretty sure I had posted a message here.

Well, here I go:

1. I'm Deaf. Are there any Farkers going to this shindig that knows American Sign Language?

2. What are these things like, and what should I expect?

That is all.

2012-06-09 02:59:44 PM
Awwwwww....Floyd A - thanks! Guess I gotta go now!

Allen. The end.: Also, take the bus or train...parking on Cap Hill is SATANIC.

This bears repeating. You'll spend more time parking than hanging out if you try to drive up here.

/will probably show up to gawk if my SO feels like burgers that night

1) my ASL only covers "yes" and "thank you" so I'm actually worthless as a translator.

2) People show up. Some drink, some drink a lot, some talk with others, some don't seem to talk to anyone, some know each other really well from online, some people don't know anyone.

I found a Seattle Fark party to be an interesting and friendly free-for-all the last time I went (a few years back), and I'm looking forward to a second experiment in a few weeks.

Easy enough to remedy. I'll probably bring my sketchbook anyway, so that's something for people to write on when communicating with me.

Benevolent Misanthrope: I'd offer to carpool, iamrex, but FSM only knows when I'll cut out. I'm boring. And old.

Yo, me too! Are you coming from the south end? EIP and we'll discuss.

I can spell-sign, and I used to know over 200 signs, most are still in my memory banks.

@ Miss Stein, I'm not sure how old the upstairs space is, as I just started there last month, but let me say this will be a long-term job for me! We still have the cheese plate and chicken sandwich!

Cool. The Deluxe is just a few blocks away, and has really good bar food. Might show up (not that anyone asked :) )

And seriously, anyone scared of the Deluxe or surrounding area is a yokel from enumscratch or eastside pansy.

If the party was being held at the Arco Station on 23rd and Cherry, then you'd have a point.

I love The Deluxe! Every time I go to Seattle, we end up there. Wish I could come meet some Farkers, but that weekend's no good for me.

We really do need a Portland Farkfest.

On the other side, I can get up to 3 Farkers down from North Seattle to Capitol Hill, but probably not back up. Not quite in style as it's a beat-up econobox. Same warning applies - boring, old, will not stay late, no loud noises or laughter, stay off lawn.

I'm in! New to the area but a long time farker so this sounds good.

Yes we do but until someone plans one, Seattle is as close as this tour is to us.

Does anyone have any hotel recommendations? (EIP) What about other things to see in Seattle? I'm thinking about taking in the Tut exhibit that weekend.

GleeUnit: I wonder what the odds of anyone my own age showing up are...

I think we will be delightfully surprised at the multifaceted customer-base that is Fark: Seattle.

Yee! I'm excited to meet all of you nerdy nerdssss!

The Deluxe, though... Gonna be a shiat show on a Friday around Cornish graduation + Pride?

tapdancingchrist: seumasokelly: tapdancingchrist: Holy crap, I might go to this. It is my birthday and I'll be stuck on the wrong side of the country. I am glad you are all throwing a BD party for me. Thanks!

If you're staying downtown, you'll have no problem getting there.

I am, yeah I'll be out there for work that week and not flying back until Saturday. And here I was worried about what I would do to celebrate.

Oh, we better move this shindig to the Unicorn so he can wear a funny hat and drink every kind of liquor out of a boot.

You would have to choose a day when I have to pick someone up from Seatac at 9:00...

Finding parking around The Deluxe is a little easier than finding a free table at Ezell's in the CD.

/ Probably a better choice than Fierabend, now that Will living within staggering distance is not essential.

If you want to see the Tut thing and have a Costco card, they're selling tickets for $27. You do have to schedule yourself in advance, though, so I'm not sure how that would work for you. You should see it - it's the last time it will be in this country, or so they say.

You should go to Pike Place Market (yeah, I know, tourists and all... go anyway), and if you like to cook the World Spice Market. The Space Needle, if you've never been up it, is cool. Maybe go watch the Mariners lose...

I was thinking the same thing, but no. At least, not according to google maps' directions for public transit.

Plus, light rail stops running at midnight.
