We already have hardcore porn of her.
Don't be greedy, let's throw in new blood.

Ugh. And it'll win the box office some weekend, too. I bought this stupid book before getting on an airplane ("friends" from high school were raving about it on FB) and I preferred to stare at the seat back and thumb through SkyMall than continue reading that ridiculous and horrible shiat.

Land of Blood and Honey was a great film. She's got serious directoral chops, but I don't know how anyone could turn that pile of dreck into a film and not have it suck.

I thought the role was cast before the book was even published?

Is this book any different than an Emma Holly, Maya Banks or Jade Black books? 9 1/2 Weeks?

I'd page through it but nothing new to me. I don't understand the big deal about the book.

One of my friends read those book as a personal challenge or something and her comments on it were beautiful. I was on the bus behind someone reading it on a kindle, and I had to bite my tongue not to be like, look let me help you find some decent porn because what I am reading over your shoulder is making me vomit.

Jolie doesn't need the money, so why ruin her reputation as a promising director by helming the piece of crap that is Fifty Shades of Grey?

For the same reason Robert Pattinson agreed to star in the piece of crap that is Twilight: by the time it's over, they'll have so much money that they will never again have to take any role (or, in this case, make any film) that they don't want to.

Can't we just ditch that idea and do "Fifty Shades of Albino", the long outstanding Elric movie? Angelina Jolie would probably be good for the sickly, drug-using, androgynous title character...

It's not even a contest. Angelina Jolie destroys Sasha Grey. Sasha Grey is just acting. Angelina really is sex. And in need of a sammich. But still, Angelina has something indefinable to her.........

The GF bought it for the same reason, all her friends were saying how great it was, she read maybe two chapters before putting it down. She told her friends that they owe her $15 for telling her to waste money on that abomination on the English language.

I thought Robert Pattinson took the Twilight role because he wanted to play a vampire and didn't bother to read the script or the books before auditioning.

Only way Jolie would sign on to this is if she's never read anything about it and was too lazy to read the book.

Robert Pattinson was not well-known when he took Twilight. For Pattinson, it was worth it. Before 2008, he had exactly two film credits, and both were minor parts. Twilight made him a household name.

Only the lamest of Fark trollers pretend Jolie is not a household name. Angelina Jolie is one of the most famous stars on earth. She makes millions per picture. She is trying to parlay her fame as an actor into a career as a respected director. She does not need to risk something that would ruin her career as a director. Directing something from source material as ridiculous as Fifty Shades of Gray would ruin her chances as a respected director.

A dead-eyed attention whore directing a movie based on the ramblings of a derivative sellout, for the consumption of desperate sad-sacks everywhere?

Jesus, people, if you're so into whipping and verbal abuse, let me oblige. You've inspired me.

So I have not read one word of this book. Only a couple of reviews. To me it seems that this book is about a woman who will let some rich douchebag do all sorts of nasty crap to her to satisfy his deviant sexual urges and she realizes she likes it. The same way most women will because the guy is some rich douchebag. If it was some blue color guy...different story and no one would buy it. But because it comes across as a guide to bag a rich guy by being his sexual play thing...it sells millions.

Is this close or am I ay off?

I got about halfway through this book. I started it because I have a friend who's really into it, so I'd like to have conversations about it. But I suspect those conversations will end up being me biting my tongue and refraining from telling her that her favorite book is actually garbage. I got through the first sex scene, where the main female character orgasms through having her nipples touched the first time. It gets only slightly better from there.

I'm also confused as to how it would make a movie that wasn't really just a thinly veiled bdsm porno. It's not like there's a rich and enthralling plot to it. It's basically a collection of increasingly kinky sex scenes with some unimportant bits about how we get from scene 1 to scene 2.

The only way this movie would be watchable is if it starred Gordon Ramsay.

From what I've been told this book started out as Twilight fan fic. That's all I needed to know about it. No farking way am I reading this book.

The only movie RP has been in that I actually like was HP:GOF. I can still respect the guy because he's come out and said what a pile of shiat Twilight is. That he basically did it for the money & because he knew it was going to be big. At least he's honest.

If I had that opportunity I'd probably have taken it as well. I mean getting paid all that money. Just to do some cheesy movie. Then basically being able to take any part I want. Can't blame the guy because I'd have done it too. Although I'd have had to take the Bella part. Unless they wanted Twilight to be more gay that it already is.

So everybody keeps talking about how everyone loves this book, but I've yet to meet a person that actually likes it. I'm always talking to a friend who had the book recommended to them by another person and they hated it. Not one person in this thread is defending it. Who the hell are these people planting this book around the world? Are they Gideons?

I love this Robert Pattinson quote about Edward Cullen:

When you read the book it's like, 'Edward Cullen was so beautiful I creamed myself.' I mean, every line is like that. He's the most ridiculous person who's so amazing at everything. I think a lot of actors tried to play that aspect. I just couldn't do that. And the more I read the script, the more I hated this guy, so that's how I played him, as a manic-depressive who hates himself. Plus, he's a 108-year-old virgin so he's obviously got some issues there.

Yes, there is a Tumblr devoted to nothing but the crazy shiat Robert Pattinson says, and it is awesome.

I've read that quote before. :) Gotta love that he tells it like it is. I may not like his movies & think his face looks smooshed in but at least the guy doesn't pull any punches. That's something I can respect.

Every time I think we've hit a new low, someone starts digging again. I downloaded the free first chapter sample, and almost hurled my Kindle across the room. This shiat makes Twilight look like Shakespeare.

I usually read anything I can get my hands on, but I am not going near this thing. Based on what I know of it, I'll take a pass. And then I read in the article that the main character's name is Anastasia Steele and I am positive I have made the right decision (though I will probably giggle randomly about that all day).

The writing is atrocious. I got a free Kindle copy because I wanted to see what the hype was about (and yes, because I'm an unapologetic Twihard). I couldn't get beyond chapter 4. Worst writing I have ever read. Also, someone should have told this British "author" to set her story in the UK if she knew she wouldn't be able to write authentic dialogue of how Americans actually speak. '50 Shades....' is one of the biggest messes I have ever read.
