One of the cleaning lady's arms is so badly injured that she may never regain full use of it, the paper said. As well as being monitored for possible blood poisoning, she was put into an artificial coma several times since Saturday.

Apparently, otter bites can be pretty nasty.

I know someone who was walking to his hunting camp who shot one that was coming towards him. To get to the hunting camp, you apparently have to walk through some swamp about knee high. He's walking along, and off a few yards he sees something making a splash in the water. Shortly after that, he keeps walking along, watching the area, and sees a ripple in the water moving towards him. At this point, he thinks it's an alligator coming towards him, and there was no where else to go, so he lowers his .30-30 lever action to the water and shoots at the ripple just as it's a few feet away from him.

A few seconds later, an otter floats up. He said he felt bad about it, but whether or not it was an alligator or an otter, either of them can do damage. Wild gators pretty much uniformly run from humans, even, as far as I've ever seen...there's probably more of a chance to be attacked by an otter in the wild.

You can't hold a whole species responsible for the behavior of a few escaped, twisted individuals.

Otter is the name they use for marketing purposes as it makes them seem cuter. It's just a big weasel.
