cmunic8r99: Only 20-1?

It's not like it only has 3 legs or something. The headline would make you think it's a donkey or something.

Optimizer, who finished 11th in the Kentucky Derby (beaten by 12 lengths) and sixth in the Preakness (15-and-a-half lengths behind I'll Have Another)

doesn't think his colt is outclassed.

Yeah, 'bout that...

He has the pedigree

But apparently not much more than that. You got the rebellions stoner kid running, not the loyal kid imitating dad.

The only reason anyone even gives a damn about the Belmont is that someone has already managed the first two legs of the Triple Crown. Nobody cares unless that's on the line.

I'll bet a TV, a gold tooth and someone's wooden leg.

I usually go to the Belmont (will be there tomorrow). Its about a 75,000 person difference between a tripple crown bid and non.

The horse will get farther than England will.

Are they going to gang up on I'll Have Another like they did to Smarty Jones to run him out of the race?

2012-06-08 08:36:37 AM
Just pump him full of lasix and let him run.

Horses are not nearly the annoying douches that soccer players (and fans) are.

If I'll Have Another wins the Belmont will he be remembered as:

A) The underdog who proved everyone wrong and won it all

B) A decent horse who benefitted from the worst year for 3-year olds in racing history

C) Roid horse

Count on it. Though, I'll Have Another seems to have good closing speed. I just don't see the other riders letting him come from behind again.

I didn't know horse racing was popular enough in the EU to have a whole tournament for it.

Hey bros, I have a cool story: There was a travelling fair (rides, games, etc) a few weekends ago on the parking lot of the local horse track. At the entrance there were some picketing workers on strike from the track with signs telling me how important horse racing was for the economy.

I'm not a union guy per se, I'm in one because I have to be, but I can see both sides of the argument when there's a labor dispute. Having said that, I can't even begin to muster up any interest whatsoever in the striking race track worker's cause.

Other than the morons in the big hats at the Kentucky Derby and the degenerates betting on the ponies, who actually gives a rat's ass about this crap?

People who love horses. People who enjoy watching athletes who aren't overpaid crybabies. And while they may have several babies by different mommas, the momma pays them, not the other way round.

My comment was more about how the people on strike think they have any kind of leverage, like ambulance drivers or teachers. If horse racing went away tomorrow, it would have a very small effect on society.

Khazar-Khum: People who enjoy watching athletes who aren't overpaid crybabies

Athletes who compete only if they feel like it, have to be plied with girls all the way to the starting block, compete in the biggest race of their careers maybe five or six races into their career, and if they win, they get to retire to a life of constant sex where they can essentially auction off their seed.

Aww man I was looking forward to this race. Now I'll probably just watch a re-run of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader competition.
