If NBA games consisted of four 1st quarters....LeBron James would be unstoppable.

That's... accurate.

FWIW, at tonight's collegiate summer wooden bat league, our pitcher gave up a stand-up single that turned into a slide-in double because of a horrible error at short. Three people in the stands started yelling, "Good Job! Good Effort!"

irishman4: fatalvenom: you have pee hands: Boston, accept that no one outside Boston likes you. Don't be delusional about it like New York.

I love the fact that no one out side of Boston likes us. Mostly because we've had more success in the past 12 years than other cities have had ever. Jealousy is a stinky cologne that smells great on every one else.

There are many things to be proud of. The success of a team of people you've never met playing for a city they aren't from isn't one of them. Rooting for a team is one thing, nothing wrong with that, but making it your life's focal point is just sad. It's no different than nerds arguing who would win in a fight, Superman or Goku.

Be interesting to see how this goes, but this could be one of those "I'm going to be the greatest player on the planet" games for LeBron. About time for him to have another one just to keep us on our toes.

I kind of like the Celtics just because they are the anti-Lakers, so as a Western Conference fan I don't mind em at all. Plus green is the best color.

I agree with this argument about pride, but what's dumber? Being proud of your local team, or wasting your hate on someone else's?

Yeah that's it, guy from Boston whose handle is Irishman4 and refers to himself as if he's on the Celtics roster.

You just keep telling yourself that.

To be fair, that statement applies equally to the Boston Celtics and people from Boston in general.

What would Fark be without people to irrationally hate and stupidly cheer for teams that they have no tangible connection to whatsoever?

Boston trying to emulate OKC by spotting Miami a big lead. Although for the NBA, anything under 20 might not be considered a "big lead" given the history of comebacks.

30 real minutes, it's an extension to real time, but not as bad. I think each NBA team gets 200 TOs in the last 2 minutes.

That depends on how they win. James could have 60 points and 30 rebounds...if Wade makes a shot in the last two minutes, it would be about how Wade saved LeBron in crunch time.

It definitely has gotten overblown though, just because ESPN needs to fill 100+ hours of programming a day, and the nature of the internet.

I really think the Spo thing continues to be that he is seen as Riley's lackey and will never be on the same level of Wade and James. Everyone knows it isn't his team and never will be, so he's an easy target.

Also, the Bosh thing from last game...he did jack shiat on defense and just seemed lost during several positions. I really don't think the coach was going to say "he played awful on defense and we were getting run out of the gym when he was on the floor, so I went with what won us 5 games in a row"

Man, didn't take long for ESPN to start promoting the dream golf group for the US Open.

I wonder how much money ESPN gave to Tim Finchem to make sure that happened.

It also depends on how LeBron plays in the end of the game. Last game he disappeared and we all know how he played in last years finals. He comes up big in crunch time and I promise I'll praise him and give him credit.

That's all well and good, but as Legler said (and got a little steamed about, actually), that's a really arrogant thing to say.

And that's why Bosh is the second most important player on the Heat.

That's just his self serving talking point. He says it to defend the Riley assistant tree and to defend Stan getting fired.

Tim Finchem doesn't run the USGA.

That group won't be watchable for long. Bubba is going to eaten up by the rough and I think Mickelson will be a non-factor.

Rough start. I don't see the C's shooting like this for the rest of the night. Can't get behind by too much. Tip of the cap to Lebron so far

Yeah, it's pretty funny that OKC and San Antonio have way more fans on here than a big metro area like Miami. Heat fans are the worst. Most of them only like them because of James, they'll move on as soon as some other team gets the big stars.

Spo was doomed from the start once LeBron and Bosh came, when you think about it. If the Heat had won the title last year and were looking good for it this year, he's just rolling the ball out to the greatest team of all time. Anything less and he's a young guy in over his head who's clueless/can't handle the situation.

There's probably like 5 guys alive that could not only effectively coach this team, but almost more importantly, be seen by the media/public as capable of being an effective coach.

I'm thinking he might have a bit of pull. I've got to believe he was in the discussion a couple years ago when they started that premium scheduling thing.

Wow, LeBron is going to have a special night. He's hot and he's making sure he's getting shots.
