Average spare WR. Nobody cares.

Lt. Cheese Weasel: Average spare practice squad WR. Nobody cares.

Honestly, the guy runs three routes and none of them that precisely.

Meh. The Browns could use him, probably. It's not like Mohammed Massaquoi is setting the world on fire. If we're going to suck (and we are, since our QB is Brandon Weeden), might as well be entertaining.

Niners could team him up with Moss.

And then bring back TO.

At some point, they are going to have to sign a paycheck that doesn't say "For Wide Receiving Services Rendered", you know.

It would be the "Straight Cash Homey" All-Stars.

The only reason I could see bringing him in would be to mentor some young guys. His best odds for winning anything are with Dallas, but, his best playing options are Miami and Jacksonville. Right now, I'd say probably Miami. He lives there, he'd be one of their best WRs, despite being on the tail end of his career.

I respect the way Chad approaches the game, by not taking himself too seriously.

I like how the analysis in the article broke down a bunch of legitimate reasons for him going to Miami. Then with Dallas, it was basically, "They like shiny things."

Veteran salary vs a rookie who can probably get better separation and play special teams?

No one is picking him up.

I am a Pats fan, and didn't like CHAD JOHNSON, on the Bengals , but followed him on FB & twitter once he joined the Pats, seems he just never fit in or something.I could see him going to the CFL.

I get that he's washed up but the dude still owns and still understands better than anyone else that athletes are ultimately entertainers.

I think Ochocinco proved he can take his role seriously, but his heart wasn't in it. He needs to bring in da' funk, and play with his sense of fun.

NO! Saskatchewan Roughriders, Dwayne Jarrett just took his ball and went home today, as for other NFL players trying to get a receiving spot we have Sinorice Moss and Justin Harper in camp. I can't be bothered to look up all the former NFL guys on the team but I think it's like 13 or 14 now? Crazy number.

Besides Edmonton? you guys need a QB first. Steven Jyles is not going to win you a Grey Cup, ever. I think Tillman has lost his touch.

You're a football player. If your an offensive player, your JOB is to learn the offense and catch a pass now and then. WTF? How do you spend a year in a system and still can't figure it out?

I hear T.O's old job on a Dallas Indoor Football League team is open.

I think 85 could do a great job in the CFL, would probably give it more exposure in the US, or at least make it fun for all of the canadian fans who he takes out for lunch. Gotta love him...

jeffrey626: I think 85 could do a great job in the CFL, would probably give it more exposure in the US, or at least make it fun for all of the canadian fans who he takes out for lunch. Gotta love him...

In all seriousness he could. The one real problem that he'd face right now is that training camps in the CFL are already one week in and the regular season starts at the end of the month. If he wants to come up here he'd have to decide that soon and find a team that wants to and has enough room under the cap to brin him in.

Also not too many teams have what I would call big holes at receiver, except for Toronto. But they have an owner now who doesnt just sign NFL guys because of their names. They seemingly FINALLY learned their lesson when they put Cleo Lemon in the compost bin.

The most likely and I think best scenario is a western team (Saskatchewan please), later in August once there is an injury or two and 85 has had a chance to look in the NFL.

Seems like a good analysis, I am no NFL expert but I would have to imagine some NFL team would love to have him. He has plenty of options regardless so it will be interesting to see where he will end up... And I cant wait to see what that will be

Seriously. It would be better for the cause if Brady or Romo would admit the obvious.

He'll go to that sideshow known as the New York Jets, then Rex will ask him for all the Pats offensive plays before realizing he never knew them to begin with, then it'll be back on waivers

2012-06-08 08:10:07 AM
The Bears could use him, but i think he will probably retire and end up with an ESPN job.

Straight to the Buttfarkinqueers

I would guess the Rams could use him as a stop gap. He's not a bad #3, but he's not long term either.

Someone tie Dan Snyder up so the 'Skins don't get him.

Not being able to figure out a system and understand the playbook is one one of the most damning things that can be said about a football player. Physical ability can only take you so far, especially if you have to remember which routes to run. That goes tenfold if you play in a system with a lot of plays where the QB throws to a spot on a timed route instead of looking for the open guy.

FFS, Ocho couldn't figure out the Pats' offense. You really think he'll be able to calculate the exchange rate on a Canadian offense?

2012-06-08 09:12:58 AM
Hmm, for some reason I thought he was younger than that. *shrugs* I guess the whole "young at heart" thing might have played into that. :)

Honestly, I'm ambivalent about him as a player, but he seems like a pretty nice and cool dude. AW maybe, but I bet he'd be fun to hang out with. :)

*snerk* Well played, sir.

LucklessWonder: Someone tie Dan Snyder up so the 'Skins don't get him.

I feel like this could be an all-purpose statement. (At least that's the impression I get from my 'Skins fan friends.)

The more I think about it, the more I wouldn't mind him ending up with the Panthers. They don't have great options beyond Smith (we'll see what LaFell turns into), and the offense isn't that complicated. And, they cut Shockey, so there's room on the roster for a problem child with iffy production.

And he'd bring some knowledge of the playbook of a division rival (not that it'd do Miami any good...)

I think he's more likely to end up on the Fox sports crew, but the general thought is the same.

He has always been one of my favorites because he treats the game like a game. That said, he really did not click on the Pats. Sad to see him go, but I get it.

slightly above average, and entertaining while being a good guy and not a team cancer. someone will take him.

Why do I already know the Jets are gonna sign him. Ex Pat. We need a reciever. And we are incredibly stupid. The writings on the wall.

I wouldn't mind him in Baltimore even with his personality. He certainly couldn't be worse than Lee Evans or Donte Stallworth were while they were here.

Unfortunately, he was apparently too stupid to pick up the play book. Which is kind of ridiculous. The Pats didnt doubt his physical ability. Just his mental capacity.

Wow, remember not too long ago when Moss, TO, and Chad were elite WR's?

Stupid? Or arrogant? They're not the same things, although one can certainly lead to the other.

He's not going to the CFL. He's going to go to a team that already has a premiere receiver, so he can take some heat off of that guy. He may not even have to catch a single ball to be effective.

From what I've heard....It's the complexity of the offense. The QB and receivers need to make MULTIPLE pre AND post snap reads. Essentially every route is an option route for all the players. And everyone has to be on the same page.

this is good explanation.

I hate to say it, but keep dreaming guys. Ocho would never play in the CFL. T.O. maybe, but Ocho does not need to play that badly for that much of a pay cut. Of course with T.O. no team in the league would sign his baggage.
