You mean the other hundred or so of these submissions?

This is the one that got the greenlight?!?

Same here. This is really sad news.

Haha. Those other submissions must have all been "He went his own way"

2012-06-07 09:01:22 PM
Maybe he was wrong, but who's to say what's right?

2012-06-07 09:07:08 PM
I am guessing it was due to many concussions in his playing career.

This sucks. Loved BW Fleetwood Mac and his solo stuff, especially the first four post-Mac albums.

Guess that's one way to break the chain.

Weird reading this because me & a friend were just talking about him a couple a nights ago. He was supposed to appear at Summer Rock '79 at Arrowhead Stadium, then backed out. Maybe the lineup was to heavy for him.

Bob always seemed to be a little bit of a nut, and it was interesting that the other members of Fleetwood Mac, particularly Mick and Christine, were there for him as he tried to establish a solo career, backing him on his albums and performing live with him. I think it speaks to how they wanted to help him, even as they broke apart as band mates.

When Bob sued them over royalties I wonder if Mick made a mental note, being that he didn't seem to go to any lengths to see that Bob was included when Mac was inducted into the R & R HOF. (This is just the impression that I have.)

Anyway, I was a kid when Bob's solo hits were all over the radio, and they were part of the soundtrack of my childhood.

It sounds like maybe he was just sick and tired of being sick and tired.

drunkness_monster00 : I am guessing it was due to many concussions in his playing career.

But he still had that 27 win season with the A's that one year. They'll never take that away from him.

When I die, bury me deep, lay two speakers at my feet, put some headphones on my head, and Fleetwood Mac me when I'm dead.

Also, his version of "Sentimental Lady" with Mac is better than the solo version, IMHO.

Okay, for the lame headline I guess, I saw him live as the opening act for Heart (in 78' I think). He performed a hell of a show, some Fleetwood Mac stuff he'd written as well as his solo stuff. Good night Mr Hypnotized.

FriarReb98: \Hypnotized was a great song, fwiw

Probably better than almost anything on the white Fleetwood Mac album, and on par with everything on Rumours. The opening drum beat alone makes that song great, and it gets better from there.

Nina_Hartley's_Ass: /welch left fm when buckingham/nicks joined, btw

The difference between Heroes Are Hard to Find and Fleetwood Mac (1975 version) is jarring. And I mean that in a good way, mind you. I know everyone looks to Rumours as the pinnacle of Fleetwood Mac's success--and rightly so--but the seeds were sewn with Fleetwood Mac.

Had I written this headline, I'd have gone with, "Member of Fleetwood Mac dead. Not him. Or her. Or him, her, him, him, him, him or the batshiat crazy one. Wait, Bob WHO?"

Here he is live at "Cal Jam II" in 1978 with a coked-up Stevie Nicks (back when she was hot).

Not sure what you call that dance at the 3:20 mark.

"Sentimental Lady" was smalchy pop crap.

But I liked early Fleetwood Mac, especially "Bare Trees" album.

Hypnotized
Future Games
Bermuda Triangle
Somebody
Angel
Silver Heels
Lay It all Down

...all songs as good if not better than Sentimental Lady. In fact the Mac version of Sentimental Lady is the definitive version imho.

He basically carried the band through the lean years. Great songwriter... sux he wasn't given due respect.

Quite liked Bare Trees and Future Games. I recollect the Welch-era releases after that being a bit spotty.

In any event, RIP.
