Has any super nerd ever come up with an explanation of where Star Wars takes place in relation to the real Universe?

I realize this is difficult given the iffy nature of any sort of continuity in that fictional universe, but still.

If there's a bright center to the universe, that's the planet that it's farthest from.

This is actually rather old news.

The amusing anecdote is that the guy who found this system gave his presentation about how he poured over thousands of pages of Kepler data to find the system. The guy next up on stage presented how he wrote a computer program and it had found hundreds of binaries already.

Binaries are actually more common than single star systems. It's also why we can accurately measure distances to other galaxies.

Binaries with rocky worlds in the habitable zone? Prob a bit more rare.

To be fair, for all we know, Skywalker could've been the galaxy's equivalent of Smith, Jackson, or some other common last name.

But Vader knew about him and just plain didn't give a shiat until Luke came to him, didn't he? Luke just fails for not looking up pops in the public records.

Imperial records don't associate Sith names with their birth names. Anakin Skywalker was reported dead with no association recorded to Darth Vader.

Tatooine is so remote they don't even use the Republic/Empire's currency. Tatooine is run by the Hutts. The planet probably isn't even represented in the Galactic Senate.

farking midichlorians.

Seriously though, if the ability to use the Force comes down to a freaking special blood component, how the hell was there ever a Great Jedi Purge? You'd think with medical technology on par with bacta tanks, they'd be able to, I dunno, create new Jedi at will.
