I'm in favor of triple penalties for people using these types of defenses. They are basically saying that their behavior can't be corrected. All we can do is lock them up forever to be safe.

His lawyer hasn't thought through that clever plan of pleading 'sleepwalking'.

Lawyer: The defense pleads sleepwalking "a legitimate medical condition."

Prosecutor: We accept that. Since a knife-wielding sleepwalker is a danger to others, we move that he be confined to a mental institution for the rest of his life.
