Yes but it gave us Tiffani Amber Thiessen's perfect ass so for that it was a great show.

No, Saved by the Bell wasn't a very good show. But for some reason, I just couldn't stop watching it!

Says the guy who makes his career out of playing the same insufferable little prick he created on that show.

She's also a perfect pair of tits.

I wonder if Dustin Diamond wouldn't have become such a complete dirtbag if Saved By the Bell had given Screech some kind of Stefan Urquelle opportunity.

Seconded.

It's amusing how I saw some angry posts on Facebook yesterday regarding that quote.

It's not a great show.....Game of Thrones, The Wire, Dexter, etc. are great shows.

Saying it's not great is not trashing it......it is definitely a cultural icon, so it has that going for it...which is nice. So not a great show, but a great piece of 90s popular culture.

It is not a great show. It's a superfly fantastic cockgobbler whirlydo of a show. That means better than great.

Growing up, watching that show in my bedroom with the door locked, killing kittens during the episodes where the girls were in swimwear.

By the way, watch some of the episodes from the first season with Kelly. Mr. Belding has some clear "I wanna wreck that" reactions to Kelly.

Heh....one person called me Screech back in 7th grade....but that was due to my personality.

Thankfully, I grew out of that.

/I think.

Yeah, he's seemed that way for awhile. Franklin and Bash is enjoyable enough.

In answer to his question, Clooney started on ER when he was 4 years younger than Mark, so, no, you don't have a lot of time to be like Clooney.

The other problem he has is, even though he's gotten steady work, you can't call him "typecast", but people will *ALWAYS* see him as Zack. He can't escape it.

Same for Tiffani. They'll always see her as Kelly, although she's done a better job of diversifying her roles.

Just went on a casino cruise two weeks ago and their celebrity of the week was Mr. Farking Belding. He was pretty cool and certainly enjoys the attention from all the girls who were little kids when that show was on.

You think he looks the same?

He was on "Mad Men" a couple of weeks ago as the head guy at Cool Whip (I think) and I thought he was almost unrecognizable.

Heh. During the infamous "caffeine pills" episode, Jessi and Mr. Belding are having lunch at The Max, talking about her chances of getting into Stanford . . . what? My girlfriend was watching it the other day.

Anyhow, I laughed. Principal eating with a student at a popular student hangout . . . the pitchforks and torches would be out before their fries were cold.

It's a wink-and-a-nod sort of thing. I can't say it was explicit (only saw bits and pieces of episodes my girlfriend was watching) but he's not the only one to get that vibe.

One piece bathing suits can make even the most beautiful of women look unattractive, or at least far less attractive. They're the short hair cuts of swim wear.

Great show? Hell no. But there was a certain thing about it that made it popular and watchable.

I'm still not sure what it was. Sure, the girls were hot, but hot girls are everywhere. The humor was mediocre, but that can be said for most TV sitcoms. The characters were basically the usual cliches and there really was no development.

I wonder if it might not be that the main characters on the show just seemed to get along. They made fun of Screech, but when the chips were down, they'd have his back. Slater could be a stuck up asshole, but he knew who his friends were and he delivered for them. Zack could do hijinks, but they never really were all that bad. He wasn't a felon, he was a good kid at heart. Mr. Belding wasn't busting asses because he was an authoritarian bastard of a principal- he knew and appreciated the kids and even (dare I say it) cared that they turned out OK. Kind of the principal we all wished we'd had.

It was a silly stereotype of a high school sitcom aimed at teenagers, but I think the interactions between the characters may have been what hooked us. They were people we all wish we'd have been in school with.
