Freakin' finally. Way to jerk around the best player in franchise history and otherwise shoot yourself in the foot this off-season.

There's a ton of other reporting out there that this isn't the case, and that there is no new progress to report. They still have until July, and I doubt we'll see anything before then.

anybody that would be surprised Brees is going to make $100-mil plus would have had to have been living under a rock for the last five years....it was just a matter of whether it would be high 100 or low 100....Dude has almost singlehandedly made the Saints a team that nobody takes for granted anymore...

Wouldn't that go for all Atlanta teams (sans Braves, I guess) ?

If Joe Johnson and Matt Ryan showed up at party, even wearing their uniforms as to make their professions blindingly obvious, I think in most social circles their presence would register such infinitesimally small quantities of f*ck given that it might be considered a scientific marvel.

I mean, both players are good at what they do, but so goddamn boring and uninteresting in every single way at it, that...seriously..who gives a f*ck...

I love the Barves. I lived in Atlanta for a few years as a kid. They really, really stunk back then. This was the late-1970's, and some nights, my dad would take me after the second inning just to get in for free. A popular bumper sticker back then was "GO BRAVES! Take the Falcons with you."

Everyone hates? Whatever. I think most even somewhat smart NFL fans know their team probably had a bounty program. The Saints just lied about it, because they were the only ones being investigated.

Heck, the defensive coordinator admitted he had programs in place on other teams.

But go on and believe your team never had one.

He's just mad because it came out that the Saints defense never once put a "bounty" on Matty Hype. I mean, why bother?

The only amusing story to come out these past three months was that allegedly they had a bounty on Freeman and Newton, but not Matty Hype. Those two guys, yeah, but His Noodly Appendage? Nope.

No horse in the race, and I still have an affection for Brees from his Chargers days, but you guys are doing your damnedest to prove HellRaisingHoosier's point, at least the first part (I personally wouldn't mind the Saints falling flat on their faces so its fans can enjoy some humble pie). I live/work with a lot of Saints fans and the sudden uptick a few years ago of ostentatious, in-your-face who-datism has become pretty grating. I'd go far as to say it makes Patriots and Steelers fanboyism look tame by comparison.

Mocking him for being enough of a toolbag to hope Brees gets injured due to sore feelings about the Super Bowl proves the first part of his point? Because that's what we're doing, and it has nothing to do with "in-your-face who datism." It's making fun of someone for being that bitter about a past game.

Meh, as a "Donks" fan I say call us when you have two.

Shut it, NO fans. You're really pushing it with the rest of us. We're trying to sympathize with you, really trying. Katrina bought you a lot of good will. But your hubris is making it tougher every day with every new revelation in the scandal.

Every team had one, we get it. But not every team was stupid enough to document every step of the way.

Take your lashings and Shut. Up.

Yeah even before the bounty people were sick of them and how they helped the city recover from Katrina, what a crock of shiat. Just months earlier the owner.was threatening to move to San Antonio if they didn't get a new stadium or better deal.

The bounty just cemented that they were as dirty as the city is, but people were sick long before bounty gate shiat.

And more people care about the falcons than you believe, at least they sell out their games although that's probably because its on Sunday with no traffic.

That's ignoring any blame the players have for going along with it though, still I would like to see actual proof before rationalizing any attempt to take a player out.

And as for all the Matty hype talk, virtually every team would take him in a second over their current QB, there are maybe 3, 4 if brees ever signs. I have faith in him but they have two issues last year and both those coordinators are gone. They didn't have the O-line to run that offense and their defense was better suited to speed over trying to shove people back, that works against average teams but.in the playoffs it kills you. Blaming it all on one guy shows your ignorance, just like giving brees all the credit, he deserves a lot of it but about 35-40% goes to that O-line that helped give him time and their RB that blocks great. As a falcons fan I'm ready for Turner to be gone, he's a decent enough RB but does not help when protection breaks down quickly.

He's a good qb. But just for fun, here are some teams that I don't think would rather have ryan...

saints
pats
steelers
giants
packers
lions
texans
broncos

That's just off the top of my head and I think everyone would mostly agree with that. But I think it would be pretty easy to add another six teams on there who may not have 'better' qb's but are happy enough with the direction their team is going that they wouldn't want to make a change. Like...

Panthers
Redskins
Colts
Seahawks
etc.

Ryans' good - no doubt. But the fact is there's lots of good qb's right now. The position in general is as strong as it's been in some time and looks to be getting stronger.

I have bandwagon rob blocked for the.idiot he is but I can assume he's talking about how the line can make the QB look a lot better. Him arguing that point would point out how stupid he is about the game but fit right in with all his other posts.

And I still think the Texans would take him along with the broncos, at least the fans since Manning is most likely just a few years there. And two of those teams wouldn't take Ryan over two rookies? Please you never want to start a rookie unless forced, the panthers like cam now but let this play out, and you don't think the Seahawks wouldn't rather have Ryan over an unproven QB? Flynn couldn't even start at an SEC school.

The point they refuse to acknowledge is that Ryan was allowed to change plays up more a few years ago and the defense has stunk. If you have that bad of a defense it kills you offensive abilities since sometimes your have to play for field position.

Oh and imagine that brees didn't sign, I don't think he will consider it until they rule on his franchise tag since it should up the offer if they say he's working on his 2nd one this year.

2012-06-08 09:51:41 PM
Toolbag, you said "virtually any team" would take Matty Hype over their QB, and without thinking JBB reeled off almost half the league, as would anyone else. Why? Because that is one of the dumbest things you've ever said here, and considering the bar you've already set in that regard, that's saying a lot.

Someone saying something that blindly homertastic and absurdly ridiculous saying I don't know anything about the game? Thank farking God, hahahaha. As far as that goes, who told you your O-line would suck last year and you insisted otherwise, starting your tired "waaaaah, bandwagon, isn't an ex-jock so he doesn't know anything" garbage? Yeah, that'd be you, but now that's a comfortable excuse for your precious Matty Hype, it's a standard talking point now. Pathetic. I can only hope and pray the Falcons let Ryan put on his big boy pants and try to call plays like one of the big guns, because he'll fall on his face and suddenly that opinion will go down the memory hole too, lol.
