How so? I believe I read this when it was first added to the queue, the headline hasn't changed.

I assumed the submitted headline suggested something about apple removing google maps in new iphones and ipads, and the story saying the opposite.

The headline says nothing of the sort, but the URL does.

Headline: Apple (AAPL) intends to leave Google mapping software as a built-in app

URL: http://www.pt-news.org/apple-aapl-to-remove-google-map-in-new-iphones -and-ipads/123043/

The article itself is absolutely atrocious and will hurt your brain if you try and make sense of it. It seemingly indicates that google maps may remain despite the fact that it may not.

There's also a paragraph which mentions something about the Wall Street Journal taking a few sentences, dropping them in Google's translate, winding it through 6 or 7 translations, then back into English.

It's all very something-or-other.

The headline was corrected then. When I clicked the link originally, it did indeed say Apple was removing Google Maps.

Smart move... they've already done irreparable harm to their brand by ditching Flash... To leave Google in the lurch would be the deathknell.

T.rex: they've already done irreparable harm to their brand by ditching Flash

I don't like Apple products, don't own one. But by all means Apple users don't care about this. Their iPads and iPhones sell like crazy.

Anything one could get in flash has probably been ported over to a free or paid app anyway.

So, in a situation like this, do Mods elect to remove this link and thread?

What level of harm does that translate to for Adobe?

Yeah, not to mention the damage Adobe to their brand by dropping mobile flash.
They are doomed!

Subby: Apple intends to leave Google maps as built-in apps for the next generation of iPhones and iPads
TFA: seemingly intends to leave Google Inc.'s (NASDAQ:GOOG) mapping software as a built-in app when it launches the next generation of software for iPhones and iPads in the next phase of this year

Those two bolded things don't mean the same thing, and I don't believe Apple is releasing a new iPhone this year.

Either way the article sucks.

Here's a better written speculative article.

What makes you say that?

Steve Jobs invented maps.

Do you doubt that there are several billion people on earth who don't have an iPhone? And i'd say a vast majority of those, is because lack of Flash.

I'd say it's because they're too poor to afford a smartphone of any kind, but what do I know about billions of people.

I think the author must have read my comment about "I'll believe it when Apple changes the default map source to Mapquest." and thought it was a press release.

WTF did I just read ow my brain hurts to English. There's an app for that.

I wish they would. They GoogleMaps App on iPhone blows. Hard. It's gotten me lost so many times, I've completely stopped using it. I use my Android tablet for navigation now.

Apple wrote the Google maps app anyways. Google just provides the data source

The hell? If I ever decide to start blowing $1000 a year on a phone, I would happily consider an iPhone partly because it does NOT have or need Flash.

Try Waze - free, turn by turn and uses crowd sourced data for speed traps and accidents.

If you put them all in one room, the stench would be overwhelming. Also, it'd be pretty hot in there unless it was a truly huge room. That's what I know about billions of people.

I love waze and use it often but its a battery/cpu/data hog.

...and this is why you use MapKit in your apps, not some HTML5 Google Maps situation. Everybody's Phonegap apps are going to suddenly look like shiat. I laugh because I warn and no one heeds :/
