There had been a recent self influencing echo effect of 60's style graphics... derivative and incestuous. Is Mad Men the cause or effect?

These are well done, however. And I do like the Tetris and Sim City examples too.

rocinante721: Now get the fark off my lawn

I just remember thinking "OHMYGOD! THIS GAME WILL BE SO COOL!" then opening up the package, putting in the cartridge, and being disappointed about playing as a low-res collection of pixels.

These are kind of cool-looking, but they don't really say "movie poster" to me. The only one that looks like a movie poster designed in the last five years is "I'm Different."

2012-06-06 11:00:04 AM
What movies have posters even remotely like this? Modern movie posters are horrible, nothing but floating heads and marketing departments run amok.

2012-06-06 11:09:07 AM
Those look cool as distinct pieces of video-game inspired art, but they don't look like movie posters, and they all look the same because the artist apparently only knows how to do one type of design.

You ordered Sea-Monkeys and were confused by brine shrimp, weren't you?

I'd buy the hell out of the Fallout 3 one

Movie posters are generally not this cool, they're usually just pictures of the main actor/actress that's in the movie.

Those Skyrim ones look whack compared to the others.

Something about the Bioshock one looks amazing to me.

Those were nice, but not very movie posterish
So here's this:

/Also, Google Chrome's spell check doesn't recognize the word "movie"

Movie posters. Just not from this decade. Or the last one. Or the one before that. No, not that one either.

Such an amazing franchise, ushered in by an artist's rendition of old Hammy "track suit" Squatpiss.

If they wanted to look like movie posters of today, they'd have to have a picture taken of all the characters (by themselves) then photoshop them onto a blue-hued city backdrop or forest scene as if they took the shot all at once. And everything has to be tinged blue or green and the lettering has to be orange. You can in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS AT ALL DRAW ANYTHING for movie posters nowadays. It ALL must be done in Photoshop.

I love that Capcom had the sense of humor to add the Bad Box Art Mega Man as an unlockable character in Streetfighter X Tekken.

Agreed. You can just hear the turret speaking...

I'd love to see one of Minecraft. I'm sure there's one floating around.
