(NESN)   MLB All-Stars will be allowed to tweet and use Facebook during this year's Midsummer Classic. Oh, thank goodness for that   (nesn.com) divider line 19

That could be fun! Some poor bastard in right field: "So bored. Bored. Boredboredboredboredbored HOLY CRAP IT'S COMING RIGHT FOR ME!"

Then: "Totes caught it! Take THAT, batter!"

And then: "So bored. Bored. Boredboredboredboredbored ..."

Since home field advantage in the World Series is being decided in a glorified exhibition game, why not trivialize it further by allowing players to Tweet? Better yet, replace the water coolers with beer kegs. Let the All-Stars play drunk (except for Josh Hamilton who only can have Coke).

So we aren't taking the All-Star game seriously now? Good, I guess they can get rid of the stupid home field advantage rule

It can't be much more pointless than the in-game interview with the managers, right?

I long for the day when that becomes true again.

All-star games once meant something.

static5.businessinsider.com

It's not like we only get the game-of-the-week and 10-20 local club games on TV. I have plenty of chances to see A-Rod, Konerko, Mauer, etc. play. The all-star game (all all-star games) is pointless.

/Plus we can see everyone through interleague play.

Sweet!

Now I know I am not watching!!!

AliceBToklasLives:

BTW, the file name of that photo is wrong. That hit, while it did separate Fosse's shoulder, didn't even end his season. He played 42 more games that year, and won the AL Gold Glove.

And just to be clear, the All-Star game has never meant anything but fun to everyone except that douche in the photo. What he did was entirely legal of course, but he was a dick for doing it. Charlie Asshole.

Huge difference between MLB players and any other professional sports team players. I know you have your Brian Wilsons and your Jonathan Papelbons, but they are nothing compared to the Dwades and Ochocincos of other sports. I'd like to believe that in a sport with considerably more class than most, they're gonna be able to keep it respectable.

Besides, nobody's making you follow these status updates FFS.

Tweet during the gaem, but it means home field for the World Series? This is why I can't take you seriously, baseball: ZERO urgency throughout a season that's entirely too long and games that individually last forever and mean almost nothing.

And as the MLB All-Star game takes a giant step towards being as relevent and exciting as the NFL All-Star game.....

Not sure if serious, but if you are, you're a dumbass.

However, it shouldn't be an issue since 75% of the team isn't doing anything baseball-related at any given time, and even those that are busy aren't really.
