Dammit. I am not a huge baseball fan, but Tommy is a great guy.
I think of the dodgers and him and Vin Scully are the first that come to mind.
Get well soon, Mr Lasorda

Even as a Giants fan, I would normally line up here, but not after how shiattily he treated his gay son.

In the past few years he has been the voice of the LA Dodgers during the MLB draft, which started yesterday.

So a corpulent manager in the world's most boring and sedentary "sport" has a heart attack and this is somehow worthy of a newsflash? LaSorda hasn't lifted anything heavier than a hoagie in half a century and it's surprising that he has heart trouble?

Pretty sure Larussa is a fictional character from The Karate Kid.

"News Flash" does not mean "complete shock" I don't think anyone is surprised that a man in his 80s who has been overweight a large portion of his adult life had a mild heart attack. But it is sudden news that people care about.

The way Tommy denies his son's AIDS is very very sad. I had an uncle who died in his 30's of AIDS in 1991. He was gay. My grandpa also insists he died of cancer.

What does fishing have to do with a thread about baseball?

I heard him speak at a charity dinner. He basically spoke to the pro athletes in the room and read them the riot act for how a lot of them treat the fans and the examples they set.

You could have stopped after the first four words. All you did with the rest of them was confirm what we already knew after the first four, that you are a total douchebag.

From wikipedia:
On June 3, 2012, Lasorda at age 84, was hospitalized in New York after suffering a heart attack. The heart attack was not considered to be overly serious.[15]
[edit]Death

Lasorda died on June 5, 2012 following a mild, but fatal heart attack.

Give him a li'l Rolaids. He'll be fine.

Lasorda makes me happy about baseball and being alive. He was the happiest face on TV from my childhood. I hope he recovers quickly and gets back to enjoying this fascinating season.

But those sausages and bacon are so delicious! And Vin Scully has told us about them so many times - how is anyone supposed to resist?

Glad it isn't serious, Tommy. Hope your Dodger Blue blood pumps better soon.
