Obama after Gabby Giffords shooting: But at a time when our discourse has become so sharply polarized - at a time when we are far too eager to lay the blame for all that ails the world at the feet of those who happen to think differently than we do - it's important for us to pause for a moment and make sure that we're talking with each other in a way that heals, not in a way that wounds.

Democratics after Zimmerman/ Martin shooting: Here is this bounty we put on Zimmerman. Here, let us tweet his home address.

Hypocrites.

Obama's speech was completely political. It was all about polarized right-wing speech. He didn't make a similar speech during the height of the Zimmerman/ Martin hysteria, when vitriolic left-wing discourse continued unabated until the point bounties were placed on citizens heads and celebrities were tweeting that person's home address.

2012-06-05 04:12:20 PM
Glenn Beck called the address Obama's "best speech he has ever given" and some of the conservative commentators shown in the Crossroads ad criticizing Obama - among them Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan and New York Times columnist David Brooks - sung the speech's praises as well.

Well, Team GOP?

The speech came right as the GOP returned to power in the House, a shift that ushered in the political gridlock in Washington that's left both parties with little to do besides lob rhetorical arrows at each other. American Crossroads says its time to look at the Tucson speech as a piece of political theater and another promise broken.

Wait. Blame Obama for GOP obstruction? Why? Because he wasn't republican enough? Because he wasn't right enough? A lot of progressives are pissed at him because he has been pretty damn 'right' in his term. I don't buy it. Must be something else... wish I could put a finger on it ...

The last time he commented on an ongoing state criminal matter not involving an assassination attempt aimed at a public official, he had to hold a beer summit so soothe the burning vaginas of the Republicans who castigated him for opening his mouth.

Well, you have to understand that in the months before it, Liberal Politicians were trumpeting rhetoric about killing black kids and targeting them for their skittles. So really, it's Obama's fault.

As if anyone's hands are clean in that whole affair.

And, he did issue a comment on the Martin affair and got positive feedback from some conservatives.

Sorry what should have been a local affair doesn't rise to the level of attention a massacre involving a sitting Congresswoman who was nearly killed. But don't let that stop your predictable faux outrage stop you.

Kind of scummy of you to use the Martin case to your advantage, too. Makes you no better than the rest of 'em.

The Obama campaign has come out strongly in attack mode. Meh, it's the times we live in and I don't get that outraged about it anymore. What I find funny is that American Crossroads can't come up with anything better than "Obama is a meanie". AC is Karl "farking" Rove's creation. The man is pure evil genius. That is the best spin they can come up with to counter the attack ads. No claiming the facts are distorted, no downplaying it, no counter attacks. Just complaining that the other side is playing too rough. Waaa. Thinking Karl Rove has been reduced to that makes me smile.

Wait, Zimmerman is a sitting Congressman? Or was Trayvon? I'm not sure where you're getting any equivalency between the two situations. Do you somehow think the President of the United States, regardless of his political party, shouldn't make some sort of speech following the shooting of a congressman?

Do you even think at all or are your screeds just blind typing on the keyboard, desperately hoping, yet still failing, to make some sort of sense?

Maybe the GOP can finally break out the Michelle "Whitey" video that was all the rage in 2008 talking points.

2012-06-05 06:15:59 PM
Wouldn't attacking Obama for attacking Romney make more sense if they didn't attack Obama? Considering we've been blasted by rove.pac ads for months now it seems a bit silly to portray Obama as a big meanie who attacks his opponents for sport.

Of course the whole rove.pac campaign is pretty funny...all ominous music and fast black and white edits while they tell us how he has failed. They are usually aired right after or right before the Obama Forward spots which remind us how bad things were before he took office and make the rove.pac BS an obvious joke.

I honestly don't get this stuff at all. Are there people out there who really haven't decided who they are going to vote for? Do they really need more of this bullshiat to figure it out? Are any of you still sitting on the fence, waiting to be pushed to one side or another by an ad that convinces you that yes, that other guy is DEFINITELY an asshole, and make you vote for the other?

I just don't see how this stuff works except to get the believers (on both sides) even more whipped up. Surely nobody's changing their mind, right?

So what is this theater for? Why is this being done to our country? Why is this money being wasted? Is it just to make political hay and take free shots at guys you don't like on the other side?

Maybe I'm the rube, but I just don't get it.

I can believe that. Both the far right's utter descent into blithering paranoia, AND that Rove suddenly realized what Romney would do to Amercia if he had the chance.

Less one ad, one accusation, one claim, etc., and more the whole body of them. Tell someone President Obama did not do this or did do this often enough, and maybe you convince someone of a mark against or for. Enough of those, and people create a negative conception of someone.

A web video produced by American Crossroads and released Monday attacks President Obama for promising a new tone in politics, then running a negative campaign against Mitt Romney.

One of these things is not like the other, one of these things just doesn't belong.

Maybe i missed it, but does anyone have obama's campaign saying the should don't retreat, reload? How about putting crosshairs on mitt's children? How about any violent rethoric? Obama said nothing about negative campaigning, he pointed out inciting violence. In gabby gifford's case it was politics, since this was just some mentally ill individual, but you don't have to search very hard for a right wing nutjob who is strictly out to kill any and all liberals.

Well, apparently, since a small, insignificant gang that nobody ever heard of until Fox decided to turn them into the official face of Scary Black Men said Zimmerman should be lynched, that means Obama wants Zimmerman killed. They all think alike, you know, and that is not racist at all.

They're Republicans - the ends justifies the means. You're talking about the political party that held the country hostage, preventing any real work from getting done in Congress, all so they could make Obama a one-term President. They actually bragged about it. Romney's actually using it as a campaign point - "elect me, and the Republicans will stop bringing America to a standstill."

They don't care about you, or the economy, or the country itself. They just want to win, and they're quite content to roll with a "scorched earth" strategy if that's what it takes to win.

Because if they don't get what they want, then their God has told them to ensure no one gets what they want - there's no compromise in their belief system, because compromise is weakness to them.
