It means "I have a means to getting laid now, but I would prefer an alternate source".

Can you blame him? His first wife turned into a blob.

So glad the police got this dangerous criminal off the streets!

A friend of mine changed his status from "Married" to "It's Complicated". We all had a big laugh. His wife, however, was not quite as amused.

dumbass...you know you keep the side action as side action...c'mon man. Everyone wants a bit of strange here and there, you're not supposed to marry it.

I know a guy on Facebook who listed his status to "In a relationship" with a heart next to another woman's name. His wife wasn't amused.

It's one thing to be married, think you're divorced, then marry again. It's another when you don't even try to divorce the first one before marrying the second one.

Guy is a dumbass for not ensuring the proper paperwork is filed though.

I've gotta wonder if the first wife told him she was going to finish the filing, and then didn't in an attempt to screw him over again later.

I know of two with this status:

1.) Not my friend, but friend of a friend who is a convicted pedophile.

2.) Boyfriend kicked her out because she couldn't keep a clean house. You know, like putting trash in the trash instead of just throwing it of the floor.

I think they have an 'in an open relationship' button, don't they?

2012-06-05 09:36:48 AM
I always thought "it's complicated" meant "I'm farking a married guy/gal."

The government has no right to regulate marriage.

This. It's pretty disconcerting when one significant other porks up and stays that way. Not to mention rude, especially when the other works to take care of him or herself. The chick with the blurred face doesn't seem that bad, but we need more pictures to tell for sure.

/Don't like it, don't get married, don't enjoy the legal advantages or suffer the legal disadvantages.

people may think you are kidding, but I had a roommate that would literally throw his garbage on the floor. Wrappers, soda bottles, anything. Never did dishes either, and didn't even own any of the dishes. I would have kicked him out, but no one else was going to pay rent in that place.

//nothing says "i love you" quite like a legally binding contract noterized with witnesses.

As usual, there is probably more to this story than the article tells. Note that his first wife tipped off the cops. It well may be that she filed a petition for divorce and then didn't follow through on it, but told him it was settled. In no fault states, the defendant in an uncontested divorce need only sign the petition and doesn't have to actually appear in court. The court then sends the final decree by mail later. He was a dumbass in that he didn't make sure his divorce was final before marrying again. His ex had probably waited quite some time to stick it to him.

If a man marries two men, is that bigamy or just gay?

You'd think the penalty for bigamy would be enough to keep people from doing it...more than one wife...

Why would someone want to make the same mistake twice?

The government has no right to regulate a contractual legal institution that designates property rights, reproductive responsibilities, and carries specific tax and benefit classifications?

For highly successful people, with a proven posse, marriage can be a detriment beyond giving half your stuff away. But for the average schmo, especially in those early years, pooling resources and always having a supporting sidekick makes marriage worth it. As soon as you get to the point of having 'your' stuff and 'my' stuff; send it to the lawyers 'cause the marriage is over. You're in it together or you're dividing the property, that's it.

Your have to remember that the entire facebook ecosystem was created by young male ivy-league drop-out computer programmers. These types of humans are not known for their breadth of understanding of the human condition.

None of mine have ever met. They know of one another, and how much they mean to me, but would probably never meet under normal 'IRL' conditions, so I see no need to have them meet.

As someone who's been in the divorce process with my former succubus for ten years now, this is not as unlikely as one might think.

So it's ok for them to publish his photo, but not hers. Because he was accused of a crime.

And then they provide a link to his fb page.

Sure, the bumper sticker for straights girls is "bi pride".
The bumper sticker for straight guys is "Go !"

Apparently, there are a lot more guys who enjoy random sex than girls.

Doesn't that require cooperation of the third party? I joined FB well after my wife, and when she listed me I got a message saying "[Mrs. Anomaly] wants to be your spouse; cancel or allow?"

Maybe they require that for marriage but not "in a relationship", I don't know.

FTA: Causer told police he thought the appropriate divorce paperwork had been filed and the latest marriage was done to ease the purchase of a new home in New York.

"But officer, I wasn't trying to be married to two women, I was trying to commit real estate fraud! I hope that clears this all up now and we can laugh about it."

They okayed the "in a relationship" between the two of them. His wife's friends on Facebook saw all that and told her. Those two later deleted those statuses.

I think in a country that is more and more embracing all kinds of relationship configurations, the only thing that makes bigamy a crime is the attempt to change your tax bracket. Otherwise, how people want to build a family should be their business. It's not illegal to marry one person and have a private committment ceremony with another, so this guy was just a dumbass.

/married with a boyfriend

*clicks profile* (waves interweb hand at a fellow poly aspie) I would ask something along the lines of "how you do-in'?", but you seem to be do-in' damn fine, so I won't.
