Random question, did the Batman Speed Sled spoil anything about Batman Begins?

2012-06-05 09:39:13 AM
Blue logo across his chest huh? That's Nightwing.

Who's the guy on the far right? Looks like one a TOS Klingon. Now that would be a hell of a spoiler.

This was pretty obvious if you know about the Batman storyline.

Knightfall

Excited to see it from Nolan.

It's Bruce Wayne. They released essentially the same figure with the last movie:

Yeah, they release action figures that have nothing to do with their movies all the time, especially with comic book movies. And going way back, remember the Jurassic Park figures with all the weapons?

2012-06-05 10:26:00 AM
So...what this boils down to is this: I've got no ACTUAL information, just a wild freakin' guess based on the movie toy line, which may, OR MAY NOT, turn out to be accurate.

Le sigh.

I've got a buck says it's a type of "battle armor" Bruce adopts in the last act of the movie.

Is there anything that is not known about this movie yet? If not, why bother seeing it. To me it is looking like an over hyped pile of shiat starring a growling idiot who I am through with professionally.

It's got Anne Hathaway. That's enough for me.

And when Joseph Gordon Levitt gets killed in act two, will people still be going on and on about how he's gonna be Azreal?

/can speculate too.

2012-06-05 10:37:24 AM
And Bats has a grand tradition of having way too many variations as an action figure.

So, there's going to be Ham and Cheese Batman, Staple Puller Batman, Wild West Chorus Girl Batman, and Yet Another Batman That Has No Connection With The Movie Batman.

Christopher Nolan hasn't made a bad movie yet. There is always a first but I'm not betting against him.

Besides, without the brainwashing by the cult of questionable morality, it takes away a LOT from the Azreal arc. Part of what made it work, if anything did (That story was a hot mess, and I, for one, wasn't a big fan.), was that Azreal was really what gave Bruce his push to come back by being bloodthirsty and willing to kill a bad guy. Of course, the guy he killed was, essentially a mook...but the point stands.

Heh. On the one hand, toys can be misleading. On the other hand, I remember almost crapping myself when the burned Anakin Skywalker toy ad came out before the movie.

Not a spoiler, but the LEGO set specifically for the scene where Anakin goes nuts on a Tuskan Raider family was a bit unsettling.

You actually need to have some sort of information to spoil. This is still speculation.

A quick search of Amazon shows the packaging with all the names. The guy in question is "Stealth Vision Batman."

So apparently he'll be needing his eyesight to sneak up on people in this one.

/there's your spoiler.

2012-06-05 11:12:51 AM
Jesus, does no one pay attention to the merchandising behind these movies? Every time a new Batman movie or cartoon comes out, there's a line of action figures that feature a handful of regular characters and a shiat-ton of Batman variants featuring him in costumes and with weapons he has never, and would never, use. Unfortunately, they sell like crazy to kiddies that don't know better. I can guarantee that this is not a spoiler, nor is it even good speculation. It's just another crappy Batman variant that represents nothing from the actual movie.

really? now kids who play with action figures are fodder? I mean so what if an 8 year old wants three different Batman figures...

now if it were an 28 year old, then you'd have a point..

I don't know. I thought BB and TDK were the best comic movies since Superman II. Good plots with actual themes to think about, good action, great actors.

I know some people want comic book movies to be dumbed down and have more explosions and less talking, but FFS, can people just let us have the Batman movies we like? After Nolan is done, we can go back to crap like Schumaker putting black light paint on his street thugs.

How are people taking them away from you? The movies are very successful, critically praised and so on. Someone else not enjoying the movies as much should not change or take away from any enjoyment you have of the movies. I love Gremlins 2, and was surprised when I found out so many people disliked it, but it doesn't change my feelings about it.

Honestly? A Batman Beyond adaptation doesn't sound bad at all.

Of course, they should put the franchise to rest after "Rises", but in a few years? Who knows?

He's gone in and out of series for batman without truly sticking to any. Year one, Long Halloween come to mind but once I heard this was 8 years in the future and labeled the dark knight rises, I really thought he was going with the Dark Knight rises. Maybe he was, but then Heath died.

Was anybody a fan of Knightfall? Yo dawg, we heard you like wolverine so we put wolverine in your batman! That whole arc was a terrible idea and thankfully failed miserably. They made up for it with everything from 96-99 though, that should be a damn TV series.

Oddly enough I prefer the short hair. I also honestly believe BB was superior to TDK.

I seem to recall reading afterwards, that that was kind of their point with the whole thing. With the rise of whole "Image" line and the ultra-violent trend of the 90s, there was a certain segment of the fans who felt that Batman should be more vicious, and willing to kill the bad guys. This was DC's way of showing them what that would be like, without staining the morality of Bruce Wayne or Dick Grayson. Kind of a "be careful what you wish for" deal. By the time the storyline had reached its climax, most of those people had pretty much settled down and were ready for things to return to normal.

So yeah, I didn't care much for the storyline, and I never could get past Bruce making some maniacal assassin he just met his successor over Dick, but I understand why they did it, editorially.

It's also worth noting that Jean Paul Valley didn't just start out with the armored death machine bat-suit either. He started with the standard outfit and slowly started gearing it up until it became the absurd thing with the claws and batarang chain gun thing, to Wayne's objection. I only bring it up because I think it supports the conclusion DC was out to show the absurdity of it all, in their own way. It wasn't like Wayne just handed the title and resources over to a guy that was all, "So I'm going to start killing lots of people now."

There are very few women who can pull off very short hair (and yes I know Anne did it for a movie role). One of those few is Halle Berry because she has an absolutely beautiful face. Sharon Stone has also managed to pull of short hair too.

Over the decades Jamie Lee Curits has sported short hair and has worn it well and still does for a 50+ year-old woman.

...yeah but you do realize that Nolan's Batman universe is going for a little more realism than that, right? Sometimes to the point of being too real. So I don't see a kid trying to replace Batman with a goofy suit that looks nothing like Batman really happening.
