They revived the series in the 1980s and it sucked. Why are they doing it again??

Lorelle: They revived the series in the 1980s and it sucked. Why are they doing it again??

From what I understand they're going in a different, darker & more serious direction. This won't be the version of "The Munsters" that most of us are familiar with, and to move away from that, they've re-titled the show as "Mockingbird Lane".

Awwwgeegoshdarn...I guess they won't be remaking that episode in which Herman tries out with the Dodgers.

They will, but it will be a very special episode dealing with the effects of steroid abuse. Herman is going to strangle Lily, smother Eddie, and hang himself with the cord from his weight bench.

So, basically, it's doing what MTV's Teen Wolf did, only trying to spread that crap to a wider audience.

Although...Bryan Singer and Brian Fuller...I may give this a tumble, much against my better thinking.

I like Bryan Fuller a whole lot and I think "Wonderfalls" is pretty much amazing and one of the best shows I have ever seen, but this is going to be a train wreck. Well, unless Jerry O'Connell ends up being re-cast as Quinn Mallory and presented as a castaway from an alternate universe who lives with the Munsters while he works on a new timer. Wacky hijinx should then ensue.

THIS. My initial reaction was: Are you farking kidding me? Then I saw Bryan Singer attached and I was like "Huh, that's...interesting." Then I saw Brian Fuller was attached and I was like "Well, it definitely won't be anything like the original show...might be interesting?"

/I also totally thought Richard Moll was dead.

Richard Moll, born 1943.

Ever spend much time around nursing homes? You don't see to many tall old people. We tend to go from old to dead in a hurry, and I wouldn't start a TV show around a 70 year old tall guy.

Robert Clary, on the other extreme, will probably make it to 105. Although his shortness comes from a youth in a concentration camp.

I need to slide into a universe where this isn't happening...

Because the mindset in Hollywood is "if you rehash it, they will come (and pay)."

And they are right in very many instances.

Why bother to come up with an original idea if re-selling an old one is frequently profitable?

I blame Gene Roddenberry and STAR TREK fans for the entertainment
industry's over-reliance on remakes, reboots and re-imaginings.

Roddenberry had one really good idea, and he milked it for all it was worth.

The rabid STAR TREK fans would give money to anything with the STAR
TREK logo on it, no matter how crappy it was (ST:TMP, the first 2 seasons of
ST:TNG), and the industry got the absolute wrong message from that.

Well, clearly I missed something because I don't have the slightest idea what makes your post funny or sarcastic. There must be some Sabrina Ll...

OOOOhhhh, "Sliders."

I've never seen that show, but as I was about to type John Rhys-Davies, I remembered he was on it...with O'Connell (who was the reason I never saw that show).

OK, I'm up to speed now. Profuse apologies, and well played.

You know, TV seems to have gotten the fantasy thing down lately.
I think that this will be actually decent.

Jerry O'connell got the hight, some build
and actually some good comedic timing...and doesn't mind giving himself to the part or for a bit.

I approve.

/sorry, haters.

I'm sorry, but the combination of Eddie Izzard as Grandpa, and Jerry O'Connell as Herman? That's awesome. I'll watch it. I'll watch the f♥ck out of it.

Now, just cast someone cool as Lillian Munster. PLEASE don't let it be that twee monstrosity Zooey, though.

While I think it would be cheeseball to get the Sliders team together again, I have to say that I would eagerly watch the show if Sabrina Lloyd were to show up. She was my ideal celebrity crush back when I had those sorts of things. She was 75% of the reason I watched Sliders.

2012-06-05 09:37:51 AM
In the reboot, Herman -- like in the original series -- has a permanent home under Grandpa Munster's thumb. O'Connell joins the previously cast Eddie Izzard, who will play the powerful and quick-witted vampire in a role that was originated by Al Lewis.

Grrr... Grandpa is Lilly's Dad, not Herman's.

/Grandpa's name is "Sam Dracula"

Normally, I wouldn't give this a second thought. The fact that Bryan Fuller is working on it means I'll give it at least a few episodes. After all, the guy is responsible for Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls, Pushing Days, and the awesome first season of Heroes.

Of course, since it's Bryan Fuller, it probably won't get many episodes after the first few anyway.

2012-06-05 10:08:59 AM
screw Hollyrock, screw them all so hard. they have a world full of writers waiting for a break, stories and scripts galore, new ideas and concepts they can call upon.

instead Hollyrock regurgitates past successes. those corksuckers abandoned the idea of creating art in favor of creating big bank. i know, it is a business.

i think Jerry O'Connell is a well defined actor. Pulls you right into his character. You're not sitting there thinking of him in other roles, other movies. That's what it's all about.

This always bothered me, do you think Lily spoke to dear old Dad about her hubby's....equipment....that's an awkward conversation. I'm sure there is a fanfic out there that tackles the issue.
