I like Nolan, but he would be wrong for Bond. He's great for stories, visuals, acting and editing. But his action leaves a lot to desire.

Now Zack Snyder has beautiful visuals and great action. He has a bit of trouble with the acting. And his storytelling is weak.

Fantastic idea. Make this happen,EON!

He'd probably screw up Bond's voice too.

They should do a Bond/Chity-Chity Bang Bang crossover...

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Quentin Tarantino should get a chance to direct Bond.

God no.

Tarantino would want to take a dump put his 'unique stamp' on
it to the detriment of maintaining the feel of a Bond film, and the result would be
a self-indulgent post-modernist mess.

I love his movies and I think he is up to the task, but I would want more than a damn trilogy.

Depends. Following is a good film, but if you saw memento and the prestige before you watch it, then it feels just ok. Still impressive considering it was shot for nothing, is on netflix streaming, and had heavy British accents the entire time.

Also, I think he would make Bond too grandiose but maybe he would change his style to fit the character.

I just want a good Bond theme. There hasn't been a memorable one in a long time.

Can they get Portishead to do it? I bet that'd be awesome. Maybe Goldfrapp?

you could say he's already done it with Batman. To me, James Bond isn't one guy, it's just a name they give that particular agent. 007 is James Bond, whoever the guy is that's being called that. Like Jason Bourne, etc. Batman is going to be this way after TDKR, he's going to accomplish what he wants, batman will be a symbol, no matter who is running the mask.

It would have been interewsting to see a Nolan directed Iron man, or cap. america.

why not have him reboot the FF?

And I'm more than okay with that. Although it's a "reboot" I'm glad he's still going to have a hand in the story (which is completely different than writing the screenplay, fyi.) It makes me feel better about the "reboot" and its potential. Especially if they kill off Bruce Wayne in TDKR and have JGL or someone else take the Batman torch, so to say.

JonPace: Has Christopher Nolan ever done anything that wasn't awesome? Serious question

He really hasn't. My top ten list of favorite movies easily includes Memento, The Prestige, The Dark Knight, and Inception.

Also this. I tried watching it, but couldn't get through it, although though that was mostly because of the accents. Tis good, but you can tell its where Nolan is getting his feet wet.

I'm in. Make it a comedy and dig up Peter Sellers and you've got yourself a stew.

HA! I told you so!

All he has been doing with his Batman movies is making James Bond in a batsuit. I've been saying this since the first one. It's JAMES F♥CKING BOND. Rich playboy. Black Q makes gadgets. Stops terrorists. Romances the girl. Gambles. Drinks. Does spy stuff. It's JAMES BOND.

Nolan's Batman has never been very Batman. It's been a superspy flick with a bat cowl.

Isn't it enough that he ruined Batman? Leave Bond alone.

The Prestige is great (one of my favorites). Memento is dull and plodding. Nolan's Batman is a lot of navel-gazing and posturing with very little decent action.

I think the problem with Nolan is that he believes what critics say about him a little too much, and with each film he slips a little further up his own ass.

while the lyrics are awful, Jack White and Alicia Key's "Another way to die" has a great riff. Then agian, I just love Jack White.

You know my name in casino royale is a good song. Its not like the traditional Bond intro song, but it wasn't a traditional bond movie. I do love me some sound garden and audioslave.
/also thought the Key's and White song was good without really liking either artists.

"Every great magic trick consists of three parts or acts. The first part is called "The Pledge". The magician shows you something ordinary: a deck of cards, a bird or a man. He shows you this object. Perhaps he asks you to inspect it to see if it is indeed real, unaltered, normal. But of course... it probably isn't. The second act is called "The Turn". The magician takes the ordinary something and makes it do something extraordinary. Now you're looking for the secret... but you won't find it, because of course you're not really looking. You don't really want to know. You want to be fooled. But you wouldn't clap yet. Because making something disappear isn't enough; you have to bring it back. That's why every magic trick has a third act, the hardest part, the part we call "The Prestige"."

Well played, Nolan.

A Tarantino Bond would be such a 60s throwback and hodge-podge from other movies like Danger: Diabolik that he just go ahead and do a Danger: Diabolik movie instead anyway.

I love Snyder's aesthetic, but that man needs a mentor in the worst way to help him with his narrative.

Someone people go clone Connery before Bond is ruined forever.

I feel like this is a troll, but I really don't see how going from Batman and Robin to Batman Begins is "ruining" it, yet James Bond isn't ruined despite the last few Brosnan movies and Quantum of Solace.

I love Nolan, but I don't want him taking over every franchise we have. There were rumors he's doing Superman, so between that, Batman and Bond, even if they were good films, is just way too much of a single man's vision. Especially since there's little I could imagine Nolan could bring to the franchise that we haven't already seen play out in the Batman films and Inception.

Martin Campbell directed GoldenEye and Casino Royale. They may not be the best Bond films, but they are among my favorites. I would love to see him do a third.

Sam Mendes is directing Skyfall, and I predict it will be a good choice. His movies are visually stunning, excellently acted, and never gypped for a story. I have faith.

Someone I would love to see do a Bond film is Duncan Jones, who directed Moon and Source Code.
