Hope it gets wider release. I'm in LA and it's only playing in two theaters here, neither near me.

Well, I'm interested. Hope it's playing somewhere in town...

OK. I have seen this before (the ad). Was this a book once or was this always planned to be a movie? The trailer looks pretty good.

Yeah, count me in on the wanting to see this. Speaking of movies with small releases, did anyone see the sound of my voice? Couldn't find it and didn't know if it was worth it (I don't trust Rotten Tomatoes).

Damn. I could only find one screening in Houston. It was on the 12th and it's already sold out. Kinda surprising there's only one showing since we have quite a few indie theaters.

A small movie with a big heart, Safety Not Guaranteed is a sci-fi-tinged oddball comedy about love as the ultimate risky adventure.

Unfortunately instead of a funny time travel and/or hoax movie, this looks like a cookie cutter indie film where quirky people get in touch with each other's feelings.

100% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

100% Fresh until Armond White farks it up

Even says that Plaza doesn't just play her usual aloof, snarky character in the movie. Looks good!

Haha, a movie based on a premise that has already been beaten to death on the internet? GET THIS GODDAMN GREAT IDEA OFF OF MY GODDAMN PLANE and onto a dvd so I can put it on my INTERNET DVD shelf above my BOOKS FROM THE INTERNET shelf. The only way this could possibly get better is if it was written by Tucker Max AND MAddox and had a lot of catchphrases I can shout at people.

Hello,
If you are a Time Traveler I am going to need the following:

1. A modified mind warping Dimensional Warp Generator # 52 4350a series wrist watch with memory adapter.
2. Reliable carbon based, or silicon based time transducing capacitor.

No, it was just a classified ad.

So, I came up with two. One was a personal-I was looking for a girlfriend. The other was the time travel ad.
[...]
And, for all the writing I've done, they are probably the only words I've written that will outlive me. In the meantime, it's 13 years later, and I still need a girlfriend.

Excuse me, I think I have something in my eye.

My realism says this.

My small inner child says it could be interesting.

Then my inner priest comes along and this joke isn't worth finishing because you already know where I went.

But I hope it's not a cookie cutter 'omg I'm so quirky' indie flick, because the concept has some legs.

shiat went from hilarious to downright depressing: "But many letters came from people who wanted me to correct a past tragedy. Dozens, in prison, asked me to go back in time and talk them out of committing the crime that put them away. Others (and not a few) were from people who begged me to go back and save a loved one from a tragic death. Those letters were so heartbreaking I almost couldn't read them and I felt a certain amount of shame for not anticipating the false hope I placed in so many hearts."

Not seeing the cause for your lulz. The review probably was written when the film played Sundance. It's not one of those movies that sat on a shelf for a couple of years (though I'm sure that Red Dawn remake will be fried gold).

I'd guess the lulz is because that's the most trite and rehashed review spewed for nearly any romcom ever.

Except the 'scifi' part, which now adays means it has a blender in it.

Ah, I didn't think the movie was even out yet. So my impression was of a reviewer who had traveled through time to see it and review it for us.

My bad.

Hunt down the /Film podcast where Armond was a guest - they did a group review of Inception. After hearing him, I don't believe he's a troll. I think he's a dangerously insane individual who hopefully is on a list somewhere. Seriously, dude is nuttier than a...um...shiat, I had something for this.

All I'm saying is if Armond is truly just trolling, he's one of the most brilliant trolls of all time. OF ALL TIME.

Alas, no. I caught a screening in Chicago a few weeks ago that had a Q&A with the director afterwards. There's a particular sequence in the middle of the movie where "Push It To The Limit" would be absolutely perfect, and apparently the plan all along was to use it at that time but they couldn't get the rights to it for some reason.

It's a fun movie, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone that has the chance to see it. The trailer really gets the tone and plot across well, so not a lot to say otherwise without spoiling anything. My wife loved it and will probably insist we see it again when it's in an actual wider release.

These assholes brought a halt to the novel I was writing by putting out this "in search of" movie. Now anything I do will seem to be a "me too" project, even though I started it ages ago.

So I shelved it, and started a new book.

Damn them.

I wouldn't worry about it. I don't think more than 20 people are going to see this thing outside of film festivals.
