Too much words. Cant read all dat.

The relevant German section: German sausages include Würste Frankfurters/Wieners, Bratwürste, Rindswürste, Knackwürste, and Bockwürste. Currywurst, a dish of sausages with curry sauce, is a popular fast food in Germany.

Here's a question for everyone, is shot blocking actually affective? As a Ranger fan i saw them do this till the bitter end, losing to the Devils. Watching the Kings-Devils series, i'm seeing like, the exact opposite from the Kings. Their mentality seems to be, "let me get out of the way so our goaltender has a better chance of seeing the puck, and i'll move up a little in case we get a fast break." I mean really, are shot blockers just extra screeners provided by the defense?

Polish Hussar: Vangor: Mayhaps my Fark friends (I have friends? right?) might help with my conundrum. Looking to purchase a new bottle of scotch for my quickly approaching birthday. Intrigued by Laphroaig and the consistent use of "peat" in the description. Have had a few scotches, but would not say I have a refined palate; have enjoyed about any scotch I have tried including Glenfiddich, Glenlivet, and Balvenie. Yay nay on Lpahroaig now, or should I transition to something else first?

Laphroaig is the smokiest, peatiest scotch I've tasted. If you like those flavors in your scotch, go for it. If you're unsure, I'd go with Oban. It's a highland scotch that follows the Islay style of emphasizing the smoke and the peat flavors in the scotch, but doesn't go quite as far. It results in a very tasty hybrid. Of the others you mentioned, Balvenie is by far my favorite. I just cracked open a bottle of Balvenie madeira cask 17 year. The Balvenie DoubleWood is also a fine scotch, and somewhat more affordable. The madeira cask was a gift from my uncle, but he forgot to take off the price tags - $125

Fubegra: roncofooddehydrator: That said, I haven't had Laphroaig, but I will say from personal experience that I enjoy most whiskeys and recommend trying a variety outside of scotch. I'm quite partial to Knob Creek (bourbon) and enjoy it more than some of the more expensive whiskeys.

Good point there... I also enjoy most of the whisk(e)y family. The only reason I don't drink more Scotch is the expense. My stash of Ardbeg 10 is carefully rationed.

On the bourbon front, if there's a Costco in your area and they sell booze, the Kirkland Signature bourbon is one hell of a deal. Flavor similar to Beam Black, but 103 proof.

Nice call, as the Costco stuff is in fact made by Jim Beam - Link

Depends entirely on your goalie and whether or not you are effective. It's a case-by-case situation - in the Rags case, the blocks outweighed the damage by the occasional inadvertent screen most of the time. This is not true with most cases.

they can be entirely effective at certain parts of the game but do it too much
and you will be too banged up as the rangers showed us

i mean they had king henrik as goalie they didnt need to block everything!

Well if the Devils don't get their shiat together, we're going to see some ignominious history.

Only twice in NHL history has a team with a losing regular-season record won the Stanley Cup. The 1948-49 Maple Leafs (22-25-13, beat BOS 4-1, beat DET 4-0) and the 1937-38 Black Hawks (14-25-9, beat MTL 2-1, beat NYA 2-1, beat TOR 3-1). The Kings were 40-42 in the regular season.

On the other hand, only twice in NHL history has a team been swept in a best-of-7 final without leading any game at any point. In 1952, Detroit beat Montreal 3-1, 2-1, 3-0, 3-0 and in 1960 Montreal beat Toronto 4-2, 2-1, 5-2, 4-0 (Montreal had also swept their semifinal without ever trailing in a game).

I saw an interview a couple years ago..wish I could remember who with..but it was a goalie was basically, 'yeah you might block a shot. You also might get hurt or just screen the shot so I can't see it. I prefer my D do their job and leave the shot blocking to me."

So i suspect when you have a good goalie, like the two teams playing tonight, you don't want/need your defensemen going down to block shots.

But I guess if you're the Rangers D, you block every chance you get.

Depends on the team. The Coyotes have done that for the last 3 years and you can see how different Bryzgalov was with the Flyers compared to Phoenix. Now, with a goalie who doesn't choke; the Coyotes were 3 wins from the Cup Final.

What the Kings are doing is more effective for them: surround the puck handler, give him absolutely ZERO time and space to move and don't screen the goalie. To be fair, Quick is almost certainly the best in the league and should win the Vezina and the Conn Smythe.
