it's tough, as a blues fan, to know who to root for. i don't think we ever really got over the scott stevens thing, even though shanny eventually worked out well for us, as did pronger...

Thank God you got this thread up 9 hours before puck drop, I shudder to think what would have happened if we'd have had less time to discuss the upcoming game.

Meanwhile Spurs/OKC thread will green sometime in the 2nd quarter.

I'm a little surprised there hasn't been (or I just completely missed it) a thread devoted to Timmah Thomas taking a year off for "family reasons". I am a cynical bastard, but that whole thing just smells...poo-ey.

I like basketball, but sadly this is the truth. Only important time to watch an NBA game these days is in the last 5 minutes of the game. Up 20 in the 2nd quarter? Sorry, that game is going to OT.

I'm going to be at this game. My girlfriend is a huge Devils fan. She likes the Kings and will be a respectful visiting team fan, but still, I'm hoping I don't get a beer dumped on my head by rabid Kings fans.

He has a tea party to attend.

If I ever meet Tim Thomas, I will gladly shake his hand and thank him for winning a Cup. Then call him a tea-tard and kick him in the nuts.

I highly doubt it.. for one, the Kings don't have much rabble in their fanbase. Also, at $400 for nosebleed, I doubt you'll have rabble anyways. Now, if the Kings lose and you're at ESPNZone bragging, that's another story.

Let me make a wildly speculative and baseless accusation, he's spending his summer and fall training for the militia just incase Obummer gets re-elected.

I'd LOL if the entire series turned out to be road wins. Home-ice advantage, how's that supposed to work?

I hope Gagne gets in a game so he can get on the cup.. it'll suck for him to fall a few games short.

Mr.Tangent: Let me make a wildly speculative and baseless accusation, he's spending his summer and fall training for the militia just incase Obummer gets re-elected.

In the very least, taking one year off is literally the worst thing for the Bruins assuming they have to absorb the $5mil cap hit for a now unmovable "asset" when they still have to resign Rask for fairly big bucks.

Fubegra: I'd LOL if the entire series turned out to be road wins. Home-ice advantage, how's that supposed to work?

I'm pulling for the Kings for admittedly silly reasons (the trollish idea of an 8 seed winning the Stanley Cup with relative ease, all things considered; the convenient "HAHAHAHA" middle fingers Richards and Carter can give to Philly if they win, etc) but I don't think this series is over yet by any means considering how good the Devils have looked themselves on the road, combined with the Kings seemingly playing slightly worse while at home.

One more thing, how bad must it suck for Kings fans having a 5pm start? Most people going to the game either had to take the day off work or weasel their way out early and most of the other fans won't even be home from work when the game starts. Awesome for us on the other side of the country though.

It's my understanding that even though they have to take the cap hit they won't have to pay the money out if Thomas does not play.

So, why not trade Thomas to a team that is struggling financially, and that way the struggling team is $5 million closer to reaching the CBA cap floor without having to spend the money?

Important note: KARAOKE APPEARS TO BE WORKING! Just hope the damn feed comes back on and stays after the game.

More important note: Devils get some pucks in the wide open f*cking net. I don't want you to win the cup, but I want you to win a game or two at least. We are about to run out of hockey you no talent assclowns.

Gotta take something back in return. Probably a bad contract as well. I wonder if the buyout might a be an option. It would take his contract, remove 1/3, and spread the rest of the cap hit out over two years.

I don't how strict the league is with some blatant contract moves, so it wouldn't surprise if the Bruins would be forced to take a bad contract in return, and/or maybe Thomas would have to resign with whomever teams takes him.

I submitted a link on this story yesterday, but the mods chose to red-light it. Maybe the Avalanche will take the Free Citizen, given that's where Thomas and his family have set up their new bunker home.

As for tonight's game, the Kings are half-way toward making my pre-series prediction of an LA sweep come true. So:

If I was on the Bruins, I'd say to Thomas "GTFO and stay out; you selfish, disrespectful piece of shiat. This team will do just fine without you."

I'm betting that some teammate of Thomas will come out and say that Thomas was a distraction in the locker room and all that at some point next season, if Thomas doesn't play.

/Hockey is a team sport
//No player worth the money puts themselves above the team
///Thomas has done that for the last few months

Moosecakes: Please Devils. Stop dicking around and actually put some goals in.

There's misconception among some Jersey fans that the Devil's failure to score is something under their control. It's not. The Kings have been shutting them down defensively. Granted both teams have had decent scoring opportunities that did not find their way to the back of the net. But overall the Devils can't just stop "dicking around" and suddenly start scoring. They are in this situation because the Kings are a better team thus far.

Oh... and GO KINGS! Staring at my SC ticket for tonight as I type this... csb

Tim Thom - you're always welcome in Chicago. Plus there would be whole lot of local politic issues you could constantly biatch about.
