So no kegstands then?

If anything, the rule should've been reversed. You have to be standing to drink. If you're too drunk to stand, you've obviously had enough to drink.

So we can drink standing up now, but starting in 2013 we can't go in their pot shops. Fair exchange. Not.

You don't understand, this law was a huge gift to the barstool industry. Congratulations to the Dutch people for finally "standing up" to Big Barstool.

Drink up, Farkers

Meh, I see the logic in the law. It seems that it applied to outdoor areas only, to coincide with permitted occupancy numbers, which was easily managed by the number of available seats. If people can pack into outdoor drinking areas by standing, it stands to reason that late-night noise levels in would multiply, affecting residents.

Whatever. Ik hou van Amsterdam. One of my fave cities in the world.

That reminds me of a joke.

What's the most popular pick-up line at the gay bar?

Can I push in your stool?

So getting sideways is still OK?

Dean Martin supposedly once said "You're not drunk so long as you can hold on to the floor without falling off." Make that best two out of three and I'm with him.
