WTF is with all these cops who can't shoot worth a damn?
Drop the doughnut and get to the range tubby!

The officers shot at him and missed. That's good police work, Lou.

According to a party goer, a fight broke out with a man who wasn't invited and the police were called.

While police were on their way shots were fired and two people were hit.

Maybe that's why he wasn't invited?

No one expects the Surprise Police.

The last Arizona surprise party:

Police said they ordered the shooter to put his gun down. The suspect reportedly raised the gun at them and the officers opened fire.
When the officers missed, the shooter put the gun down and surrendered. The shooter was taken to the Surprise Police Department Headquarters.

I know that adrenaline can make you a shiatty shot, but aren't officers trained to empty their weapons when firing? This is playing out like an episode of the A-Team in my head.

Baffled, Arizona

I shoot at a range in mesa AZ that caters to LEO. Honestly cops will completely miss the paper at 20'; the guys in uniform are normally the worst shooters there.

On another note. I bet the real scene went more like, "cops said nothing and opened fire. After they peppered the house behind him, the gunman dropped his gun before they could reload."

In my pre-coffee state, I read that as surprise panties, and immediately clicked on the article.

Nice trick subby.

Good thing the cops can't shoot as well as he can.

I always love it when Surprise shows up in a news story. You can't make a depressing headline EVER if it's got the word Surprise in it...

The headline made me think of that episode of Reno, 911! where they throw a surprise party for one of the guys and he opens fire when they all yell "Surprise!". Then I read the story and realized that these guys actually make the fictional Reno sheriff's department look competent.

Surprise homeowner, you should have known when you moved in range of El Mirage.

I'm beginning to think that Arizona has leapfrogged Texas in its quest to be the only state other than Florida to have its own Fark tag.

So from the article I got that the cops are what, 10 and 0 and the shooter was 2 for 1?
No wonder folks want the right to open carry.

do you think they'll be looking into Lasik surgery now?

Yeah I meant that - it's okay

Sadly, I have to agree. I live here and it's getting stupid. Stupid people + stupid politicians = a lame state with really hot weather.

I know exactly where this happened, and it's usually a pretty good neighborhood.

I keep asking, why *doesn't* it yet? Is Drew not paying attention?

Whoops!

I misread that as "panties."

I bet the scenario was more like this

cops show up, suspect immediately throws gun down, and surrenders

cops continue holding suspect at gunpoint, give each other a wink, and start shooting every shot they have around the suspect, basically making him shiat himself.

then they say "Oops, we bad. Missed him by >
And snicker. That'll teach him to mess around in this 'hood again.

easy availability of guns, a culture of "stand your ground" bravado, and 6am... I wonder if alcohol was a factor?
