bkeyport: ok - if yer gonna quote TN Code, quote it correctly - Prostitution is a Class B misdemeanor. Prostitution committed within 100 feet of a church or within 1½ miles of a school is a Class A misdemeanor

Within 1½ miles of the school, you're subject to heavier fines and jail time. Standard Class A misdemeanor fines apply to 100 feet of a church.

Ah. My mistake. You're right!

A Non Amos: The church I attend is called Lakepointe church.

What kind of place are they?

Let me put it this way: If a women walked into the church auditorium during a service, and she was known by many in the church to be a prostitute, not one affiliated person would say anything defamatory to her. She would be welcomed with the same friendliness everyone else receives. She, with the rest of the congregation, would be informed during the announcements that the Bibles in the seatback pockets are free for the taking, and that programs occur after the service which explore Christian beliefs.

/They play rock music and have awesome laser lights and fog effects. Pastor Greg always puts out a neat sermon, too, using visual aids but also delving into theology. A lot of older Christians hate the church because of their amiability with anyone and everyone, and the music that they play. That, of course, makes it a place to find a Farker.

//I won't say anything for other churches. I just do what Jesus did.

///Disclaimer: The above comment may, at a future date, become invalid in the event that Lakepointe church fails to be an organization. Check Google.

In unrelated news, in heavy meth neighborhoods, police cars double as churches. They get 37% more confessionals that way.

Everybody who's read the bible knows that Jesus hung out with prostitutes. The cops are just going for the low hanging fruit.

I can understand selling drugs near a school being bad and giving you a harsher sentence, but selling your yourself near a church gives you a harsher sentence? That's just bible belt tardery if you ask me.

Also, Tenn. Code Ann. § 39-13-513 states that if that Church had a school program, and they were within a mile and a half of it, there is a sentencing enhancement for using their services.

And by "services" we mean "church school program," right?

If both parties are aware and make money from it, where is the harm? Selling copies in that instance should not be an issue.

I would point out again I have not ever partaken in this business, nor would I. But that is only a personal choice. I have zero issues with others doing this as long as it is in good taste, and does not include anything regarding the underage.

And it wouldn't even matter, about the schools, that is. Under the law, it makes no difference if it's an ITT Technical institute, it's 1.5 miles underground, and the whore (or drug dealer) didn't even know it was there. They'll still nail your ass to the wall.

A 50 year old whore isn't a lady anymore. Nowadays she's probably not even a woman.

Except you don't run the risk of contracting HIV or Syphilis when you make a copy of a page in a book. There are legitimate public health concerns in the United States regarding prostitution. Even in states and in nations where it's legal it's highly regulated, and if you're on the black list for having an STD, it's still a crime.

There are also issues with the fact that many of the prostitution rings in the United States are not run with willing employees. They use some form of debt slavery, human trafficing, or they use underaged women.

Just watched Doug Stanhope standup. He proposed that many women have unionized providing sex to men and some actually see outright whoores as scabs.

I am not sure what exactly that has to do with your post but it does validate that many people still want to see sex as a moralistic issue that should be controlled through legislation.

Most of these problems will start to go away with regulation. If porn can exist, be taxed, and not cause widespread STD problems then neither will legalized, regulated prostitution. Have you seen some of the questionable animals on youporn?? If those people can fark and not cause major public health concerns, I'm sure the regulated hos will be fine.

No, it's just that they way the question is posed makes it seem as though the johns are perfectly decent and rational men. These men are typically druggies themselves, or otherwise outside of lawful society. I'm not saying all of them, but I think that most stable men aren't cruising for canker sores.
