Then please answer a very important question. Does it use some kind of off-the-shelf charging unit or is the thief royally screwed?

I don't know much about chargers and how readily available they are, but the plug is female and just looks small - 1.5mm or 2mm in width? Something like that. The male connection's on the inside. The battery's built-in.

But apparently you can get 7 hours of use out of a 2-hour charge. So presuming the unit was fully charged when it was stolen, the thief would get quite a bit of use out of it before it went flat. After that though, yeah they're probably screwed without the charger. And the display model probably wasn't fully charged anyway, probably just had the default factory charge, which wouldn't be much.

I think you got that turned around, the Plug from the charger is usually refered to the male end, and that plugs into the socket, female side...

it's probably no more than 3volts dc, but you say the battery is built in, Non user serviceable? (giggity) so it's probably a Li-po battery and those are usually around 5v dc.
