I also enjoyed his work on The Star Studded Big Money Match Game

It makes me feel rather old that I can identify all of the celebrities in that photo, and probably moreso that they still seem like celebrities to me.

Complicit: I thought he died shortly after The Running Man was made.

You know who died a lot? Richard Harris. I think he finally did die after Gladiator, but I remember three films(though I don't remember which films) whereafter the release, entertainment reports would declare his passing.

Louie Anderson just ordered a diet soda.

He was one of the best things about The Running Man. Instead of just getting an actor to portray an over the top game show host, they managed to get THE game show host and got an amazing performance out of him.

Between him and Davy Jones, I turned into a complete fool for British accents. And to think they both died this year.

Damn, I loved all those old shows. Match Game, Family Feud, $10,000 Pyramid, Newlywed Game. My favorite was the80's Price is Right only because Barker's Beauties were awesome. Holly, where have you gone?

What was clever about him is that even though he was encouraging families to feud in order to win money, he did it in a way that was enjoyable.

He really was the father of reality TV and shows like Survivor and The Apprentice.

Harris didn't die until 2002, after the 2nd Harry Potter film. Oliver Reed (Proximo) died before Gladiator was completed, so some of "his" scenes are doubles and outtakes.

My sixth grade teacher was named Richard Dawson. On the first day of school he announced "I'm not English, I was never on Hogan's Heroes and I don't host a game show so don't ask."

/useless fact

That being said, he was hilarious on Hogan's Heroes, a/k/a the only successful sitcom based in a POW camp, I loved the three-piece suits on Family Feud and he farking ruled in The Running Man. Sad that another piece of my childhood is gone.

I had such a crush on him in Hogan's Heros. I always wanted to be one of the female spies.

I could support a "remake" that was true to the book, although it would never happen. Just remaking the movie would be a terrible idea, since they did manage such perfect casting the first time around.

Richard Dawson lied to me.

I went to Germany years ago and spoke English with a German accent just like he did in Hogan's Heroes. That shiat didn't work. What a douche.

FTFA: He ended up marrying one of those female contestants, Gretchen Johnson, who he met when she competed on the show in 1981. Together they had a daughter named Shannon Nicole Dawson. When he hosted the second run of "Family Feud" Dawson made a promise to Johnson not kiss anyone.

Wrong - I watched an interview where he said that he stopped kissing the contestants because his DAUGHTER said that she didn't like seeing him kiss "anyone but mommy."

Please don't insult him like that. Dawson's shows were about sportsmanship and comedy. The Apprentice is about personal attacks and some billionaire's ego.
