That is the BEST.

Richard Dawson, you will be missed. You were a one of a kind.

I think I read that the producers of the show really disliked him, but i cannot seem to find any information on this. Something about how he kept insisting that the judges give answers that were questionable to the players.

Anyone?

There was a Predict a Celebrity Death thread on TFD. I said Richard Dawson, or one of the Family
Feud hosts, because the Hatfields & McCoys had just been on History Channel.

Known as "Dickie Dawson" in the UK 1950s. Married to the voluptuous Diana Dors, the Marilyn Monroe/Divine of her era. They thew swinging singles parties in their flat, and later Dawson was participating in orgies with the ultra-sleazy Bob Crane.

Did you post that on Fark?

If so maybe that explains why just YESTERDAY I was wondering if Richard Dawson were still alive or not....and concluded that he had probably died some time ago.

Weird.

Most people only remember Dawson for Feud, but before Feud he was just as great on the Match Game. That man damn near had ESP for his ability to match even the dumbest most obscure answers the contestants would give, and get it right. They even changed the rules of the show to try and discourage contestant from picking him all the time. Love him in Running Man too. Too bad he was supposedly a major d-bag off screen, but who cares? RIP

And that, of course. His inability to compose himself was just amazing, especially as he can't help it even as the producers tell him to get a grip. There's some other great Dawson/Feud moments out there, like 98.6 degrees as an answer to "what is the ideal temperature".

I just found this out but Ray Combs, his successor, died 16 years ago to the day that Richard Dawson died. Creepy, but at least Dawson wasn't part of the Family Feud curse, where they died unexpectedly or their career went into decline after their time there.

You taught me something today.

So, I guess they added this new "Star Wheel" to pick the stars randomly, and the first time it was spun it landed on Dawson, and it was a great TV moment.
