Speaking of the waterways and boats, my fondest memories ofgrowing up in Michigan was the canoe trips that were part of summer camp. The Au Sable, the Rifle River. The problem is surviving the winters to make it to the incredible summers.

Appalachian State, biatches. Your state now owns the most embarrassing loss in college football history.

Or you could just be a cheater like Tressel.

Ohio is still the state that's so polluted it lit Lake Erie on fire.

♫See our river that catches on fire!♫

Can you cite the details that are current? I believe the lakes are a ton cleaner then they were more then a decade ago.

I will cite my source

If that is the best cite you can provide, I have zero respect for you. A knock on an Ohio city that also cites nothing?

Puleeze.

Wow, what's up with the angry Ohioans today? There's this thing. It's called a joke.

It's okay. I'm pretty sure the lack of respect is mutual at this point.

No no no we have no festivals here in traverse city. We also dont have great restaurants beautiful beaches or excellent microbreweries. Traverse is a fetid swamp that no one should visit.

Eh. I've lived in both states, and both have their points, good and bad. Michigan has terrible governance and a fetish for decay, and Ohio has Mt Rumpke and lots of bad teeth north of Dayton.

Not to mention the most vicious mold I've ever seen anywhere. And, again, I've lived in Florida.

But what's wrong with grits? I had some delicious bacon and cheese grits with pepper when I visited Louisiana (which of course, is not Kentucky). They were fantastic.

Why not? St. Ignace is a drinking town with a fishing problem.

Sometimes I feel like the only Michigander that actually really enjoys the winters. I love cold weather, bring on the snow, I don't mind driving in it or shoveling it, and I hate the sunshine so 6 months of winter is pretty farking awesome for someone who enjoys wintertime sports/activities, like myself. To be honest I kind of wish Michigan were less sunny.

Frankenmuth's Zehnder's chicken...(mmmmchicken) Their food is so tasty me and my Dad go there for Thanksgiving since family decided to be dicks to my dad for being a single parent. The meals are a festival all on it's own.

Last time we were at Zehnder's, the chicken followed us around. My 3 year old cousin was terrified of it.

Oh he shouldn't be scared of Drumstick he's just the cook undercover.

OOH! Pinconning here! Get rid of the Indian Casino that has done nothing for the area and made things worse crime wise and environmental wise. Then this place would be awesome again. Also get the Shafers to tear down and sell the old Hardees that has been for sale for over ten years and maybe new business will come in.

So much they could do....so little chance it'll happen.

/And Zehnder's is damn good chicken....
//and huuuuuge meals

The people and the city are getting sick of the shafers as of late. If they wanna own the city fine but they are going to have to pay for the new urban blight fines the city is now enforcing.

So it would seem. Yes, Western HS in Auburn (podunk town between Bay City and Midland) is sinking, as well. Has been for decades.

Today, we went for a hike in a gorgeous old-growth forest, ate handmade chocolates in an orchard, strolled along a wide white-sand beach with aquamarine waters, went fishing for steelhead, bought locally-raised meat, grilled in absolute perfect weather with a view of the lake, and capped the night winning $300 at a beautiful casino resort.

Typical Michigan weekend.

I love my adopted state, will never live anywhere else after living many other places. I appreciated this article to learn more about it.

Shockingly enough, you're wrong. Yes, we had stupid players doing stupid things and a coach who covered it up, but that pales in comparison to your loss.

1 - That was the year your "star" quarterback and runningback came back, even though they could've gone to the draft, just to beat us.
2 - This was a team, regardless of their level of play, that your second squad should've been able to beat handily.
3 - It wasn't even a road game. They came into your house and beat you in your house.
4 - You were a nationally-ranked team. In fact, I believe the first nationally-ranked team to ever lose to a lower division team.

Face it - it was the most embarrassing loss in college football history.

So an Ohio land speculator told lies about the competition despite his government salary and duty to provide impartial data. In the great corrupt traditions of those Ohio presidents and football coaches who lie, cheat, and steal this should surprise no one.
Btw, the vitriolic hate does go both ways but it comes North on a 10 to 1 ratio of what goes South. Ohio just does not have much for us to be jealous.

Silly Yoopers, he's actually referencing Torch Lake in that song. 'Northern Michigan' is any place in the Lower Peninsula north of Clare and south of 'the bridge'.

There's a Torch Lake in the UP too, maybe that's why they are confused.

I thought maybe he was talking about Houghton lake or Hubbard lake. When he says Northern Michigan I knew he didnt mean the UP, he would have said that. When folks go up north but stay below the bridge, they just say up north. Beside KR is from Romulus, so northern central Michigan is far enough away to be wilderness

No no no we have no festivals here in traverse city. We also dont have great restaurants beautiful beaches or excellent microbreweries. Traverse is a fetid swamp that no one should visit.

Right, no wonderful french restaurant (Amical), no great sandwich shop (Grand Traverse Pie Company), no sushi bar (Red Ginger), no fudge shop (not even a few), and we DEFINITELY don't have wonderful sunsets over Lake Michigan only 20 minutes away (Empire), and NOT the most beautiful place in the US nearby (Sleeping Bear Dunes Lakeshore). Fetid swamp is all we have.

//keep it to ourselves, I forgot.
