Hoo boy. I played violin at a jock high school. One of my classmates went on to play quarterback at a Super Bowl. If you didn't have a letterman's jacket (or date the owner of one), you didn't exist at that school.

In addition to orchestra, I:

Was in the computer club
Played Dungeons and Dragons
Was part of the stage tech crew

On Mondays, I would bring in tapes I'd made of the previous night's Dr. Demento show for my circle of friends to listen to at lunch or Theater Tech.

Geek? Nerd? Dweeb? Probably a bit of everything.

Nah, I got rid of it in '96, when I had my first kid. It didn't have a back seat at all, just a big platform with a futon on it where the seat had been. I'd like to have another one someday, though.

I just tried to stay out of everybody's way. Every once in awhile I would get enamored with a girl who thought she was too good for me. It never dawned on me, but I'll bet some of the rich girls looked down on me since I was bussed in from the Air Force base.

I was in band, but I was a drummer. They called me "Cymbal Man" during my freshman year. I took it OK.

Honestly, I wish I could find a few people that are not good at music right now, but totally dedicated to learning and practicing the way we did in band.

I should have lost my virginity as a junior. I picked up my girlfriend from her job bussing tables and we parked on the side of the road. We were just about to do it, but my erection started disappearing as I put on the condom. Then I came right as I was about to try to jam it in.

Not like it would have went in, anyway.

I had friends in many social groups, I wasn't popular but I was not hated. People never had a problem with me because I would mind my own business unless I saw someone picking on a kid.

I guess I was the floater, not making any lasting impact on anybody good or bad.

None of the above? I knew people from all of the "cliques," though cliques were pretty blurry at my High School, but mostly hung out with a few close friends who weren't easily stereotyped. I suppose if I must be categorized, I was closest to the preppy group or the (non-math) nerds. And I was closeted gay, but not homophobic.

Biology nerd until 7th grade, which meant getting bullied constantly. In an ill conceived attempt to stop that sort of thing, I then went full on skater pothead brawler asshole.
Started off a straight A student and turned into a mean little shiat that got into weekly fights and was always wasted in class.
Suspended bi-weekly.
Expelled for a full year TWICE.

I was a quiet guy who eventually established bonds with the football players, because I took their math classes out of contempt for the teachers who did the honors and AP math classes. Quizbowl and mathbowl player, waterboy for girls varsity soccer, bass drummer for the school's steel drum band, and a smoker. So mainly a nerd.

I...I don't know what I was. So you tell me:

I was in the choir (and District and State Honor Choirs)...and in Beta...and captain of the Quiz Bowl team two years running (and a team member before that). I had maybe three actual friends. I wore a tie to school for no particular reason. I read waaay too many books, listened to weird music, and almost went to the state's "nerd school"--the School for Math and Science.

In college I tacked on to all of the above the fact that everyone just assumed I'd up and start shooting everybody. So...yeah.

Oh, and I'm one of those "filthy homersekshuals."
