It is an amazing novella as are all of the stories in the Bachmann Books. I havent read them in 20 years but I need to pull it out and read it again.

In a place where until fairly recently *no* private citizens or entities owned land, the whole concept of who-owns-what can be hazy. It's entirely possible that that block of flats was transferred to a residents' collective, and so yeah, maybe he does own a piece of that building.

It's hard to say without reading up on it more. The other former residents looked pretty freaking pissed, too. Rousted out of their units in the middle of the nght with bulldozers seems pretty sketchy to me.

Hopefully no one gets hurt since molotovs aren't exactly known for accuracy. That said, I hope I'm as stubborn/big-balled as this dude, when I get his age

It's already going on in the foreclosure crisis.

Big banks are so bloated and mismanaged they can't find the titles, paperwork and deeds to mortgages, and police are just taking their word and removing people from homes. Because to prove it would be too costly to the right people, so the plebs get pushed aside on the banks "word".

Some states stopped it, and banks cried foul. Other states just don't give a fark.
