Isn't that just an ice fishing shelter turned on its side?

Cat cubes! That's why her design looked familiar, yeah. Cue someone Photoshopping a cat head on her body.

Yea, I'll show her a tent in five seconds.

Look at the farking size of that thing. If I was at a sporting event and someone popped one of those up in an area with limited space I'd be pissed. You can fit 2 people in that thing.

These things suck even if you are an overprotective parent - much more of a pain and much less effective and versatile than a nice golf umbrella.

Make it soundproof so I don't have to hear her screaming at her little snowflake.

Hey lady, bug spray is cheaper.

It's black and made of waterproof material? I bet you could roast a chicken inside when it's in direct sunlight.

I live in Sioux city so I'm getting a kick. This is still a stupid idea, even though the bugs here are atrocious.

It's about time someone invented the tent.

2012-06-02 10:02:52 AM
Representatives for a company in Beijing, China, contacted Blake. The Chinese firm would make the tent, and make it large enough for two. Blake sent her design, the firm returned a prototype.

The first one cost Blake about $300, of which $100 came in shipping costs alone. The cost per unit to Blake would drop as her order size increased. The minimum order, which she did, consisted of 300.

Officials at the Western Iowa Tech community College Small Business Development Center counseled Blake along the way, advising her against applying for and seeking a patent for her Ten Second Tent.

She was told the patent process was costly (up to $12,000) and time consuming. Instead, she was told, get the Ten Second Tent into production and start selling. The idea will be mimicked soon enough.

This about sums up why America is farked.

That broad didnt invent shiat. This is not significantly different than similar toy tents that my kids have.

She's never heard of an umbrella?

I remember instant pop- up tents twenty years ago. Putting a chair in it to avoid rain is a new idea.

And for those complaining about space, this isn't something you throw up at a college football game, it's for parents watching their kids play soccer. Plenty of room.

It looks like a giant pair of starched panties.

Call me when it can handle winds in excess of 20 mph and cures cancer. Otherwise, this is an absolutely useless piece of Chinese made disposable crap and she should feel bad for inventing it.

Beach tents exactly like that have been available for decades. FWIW. I don't think it justifies any outrage, or anything.

Pre 9/11, I had a similar idea for one of these you could use in airports for long layovers. My thought was that you could pop it open, stash all your bags, etc., inside it, and lock it, so you wouldn't have to lug it all with you as you schlepped around the concourse. And since hell truly is "other people," my other thought was that you could go inside it yourself, for a bit of all-too-rare privacy.

umbrellas aren't going to protect you from bugs. Unless it's raining bugs. But if it were raining bugs, I doubt this little tent will protect you from the wrath of your god. But if it does, whoa, you've got a heck of a product on your hands.

It's an airport, not a homeless camp.

I might buy one to live in soon, having been laid off again yesterday for the second time in seven months.

REI used to sell a 3 second camping tent. That was 10 years ago or so. The maker went out of business.

Seriously. This woman "invented" the Playhut. Almost certainly after watching her kids use their 85-piece Playhut set.

Given the wire, I could make one of these things.

She came up with a specific design to fit a specific need that makes life easier. And she turned it into a real product. Im sure all you nay-sayers came up with something better while you were doing bong rips with your frosted flakes this morning.

It's just a large studio tent, the kind used for photography. Lets all say what else this thing is!

Something that would get a protester, arrested?
