Man, usually when you see pitchers go for no-hitters or perfect games, it's against teams like the Twins, the Pirates or the Mariners who can't hit for sh*t on a good day. To do it against the Cardinals would be a hell of a feat.

120+ pitches going into the 9th. Should be interesting.

I checked ESPN they were too busy showing something called the NBA?

He shares his last name with an Indians player.

THE JINX IS IN PLAY.

Impressive. Grats Santana and the Mets, and apparently you can break a jinx by saying you jinxed it.

YOU GO-HAN, JOHAN!

You're going to have to go back in time and void the Ubaldo trade for that to work.

Against the best offense in the NL and reigning World Series champs.

This leaves the Padres as the only team to never throw a no hitter.

Oh yeah.

I nearly tripped and killed myself celebrating the last pitch

Oh my god.

I'm going to go out to a bar now. My friend Dave said he felt like vomiting for most of the 8th and 9th innnigs. I haven't heard from him since...I should probably make sure he hasn't had a heart attack.

Wooo!!
Don't really like the Mets, but I hate the Cards.

Good on him.

I lived to see it. I can't believe I lived to see it.

2012-06-01 09:59:58 PM
Meh. He had 5 walks, too.

2012-06-01 10:00:28 PM
The foul line is fair. Cards were robbed.

But thems the breaks in baseball.

Congrats to Johan anyways.

And the Cards what I hope is rock bottom for the season.

NOW WIN 3/4 STL!!!!!

2012-06-01 10:00:41 PM
HELL YES!!!! As a long suffering Mets fan, this is fantastic. Makes Johan worth the stupid amount of money he is being paid.

ME EITHER!

I thought if it had to happen though, it would be Johan to throw it. Absolute guts.

Went after a guy on 3-0. Threw his best changeup in the 9th inning. Beautiful game.

I don't know what to do right now.

Beltran had a hit over 3rd base that was incorrectly called a foul ball, but a one hitter is still impressive.

Who cares about baseball anyway? All they do is turn left, turn left, turn left.

/Pirates fan. Sticking with them 'till the end, but not much to celebrate.

Ha, I botched my submission on this because for some reason I saw Santana and my brain jumped to CC Sabathia.

WOW, I'm an idiot.

Enjoy the booze tonight Mets fans

reposted from one of the redlit threads...
Of the three no-hitters thrown so far this season, two have been by players on my fantasy team. Weaver and now Santana.

/they're about the only things that have gone right with my fantasy pitchers so far
//still waiting for Cliff Lee to get his head out of his ass, and maybe, just maybe the Phils could give him a little run support
///congrats Johan

I was going to say, Pirates fans at best get to see someone run straight twice, maybe 3 times a game. If you get a hot night maybe they turn right once, if twice.

Good for Santana.

But as a Cardinals fan:

WHY MUST YOU GUYS CONTINUE TO SUCK?!?!?!?!

Goddamn, I long for the day that I can yell that at my team coming off of a championship season.

Was curious about this and I found the answer - former Mets who would pitch a no-hitter for another team:

Nolan Ryan (seven: Angels, Astros, Rangers)
Tom Seaver (Reds)
Mike Scott (Astros)
Dwight Gooden (Yankees)
David Cone (Yankees)
Hideo Nomo (Red Sox)
Philip Humber (White Sox)

I'm calling it: Gary Carter was all over this game.

8-8-0. Farking Kid is looking down on that one.

I screamed, then I cried. And now I'm watching the post-game.

I haven't been this happy since 86.

Apparently this is a bogus no-no. Beltran had a hit down the 3rd base line in the 6th that the ump called foul.

Man CE. If the Twins were good, I'd likely to have something to say to that. But man, they are bad. When our "ace" gives up 7 to effing Cleveland, man. Game over. Take 'em out back, it's over.

Can't say as if I'd be able to control myself if I was at Not Shea tonight.

If we lived in a perfect world this would have been a 1-hitter and Armando Gallaraga would have a perfect game.

But we don't, so you keep calling it "bogus" if it makes you feel better.
