I think they should have made Scott omni-sexual, like Capt. Jack Harkness from Torchwood/Doctor Who.

I figure, like Jack, Alan Scott has seen so many people/aliens/super intelligent shades of the color purple that the concept of bounded sexuality has become somewhat irrelevant.

What an idiot. Grant Morrison is already writing Batman.

Also, Alan Scott was obvious from the moment they announced it.

Alan Scott is not that kind of Green Lantern. He's not a a space cop for the Guardians of the Universe, unlike the other four [plus Jade] human GLs.. His ring is based on magic, not tech and he traditionally fights earthbound villains.

Well, this version hasn't. He's just about to become a Lantern.

Besides, in Earth-2, everything is mystical, not sci-fi, so they're sticking to the magical origins Alan Scott has had (at one point, his lantern came from the Starheart, the bundle of almost all magical in the universe).

I feel the nerdly need to point out that it was the Guardians who made the Starheart, and thus who 'created' Alan Scott in the main DCU continuity.

In this continuity, Earth-2, it remains to be seen who empowers him.

Yes, I know that, but the guy wasn't exactly putzing around in bumfark Iowa all of his life; he's well aware of all the other intelligent species in the universe. My point is that because of his age and his permanent youth, they could have gone one step further and not place him into a sexual box.

/Did I just use the phrase "sexual box?"

The DC Universe seems to be like my Windows machine at work: every so often, you have to reboot it for no explicable reason; it's a pain in the ass, frustrating, you usually lose all of your work, and one day I'm just going to give up on it.

As opposed to the Marvel universe, which is held together with gum, tiny atom sized clones of Wolverine and argumentation.

So, no more Green Lantern movies.

Two Girls One Cup would sell more tickets than a gay superhero movie.

Yeah, one could make the argument that all superhero movies are gay anyway.

When you think about it, anything that's trying too hard in the masculinity area, whether it's superheroes, action stars, football players, or wrestlers, can easily be parodied as gay.

All he needs is to draw in two hands pulling apart that brown starfish he has on his chest for the image to be complete.

i would've gone with Guy Gardner as the gay guy, but whatever, Alan Scott's fine too.

I assume they're going to retcon Jade, even though plenty of gay men have had children biologically, and it would actually make his character more interesting if he had an ex-wife somewhere from prior to coming out.

Jade and Obsidian don't exist anymore, everything to do with the Justice Society has been completely rebooted. This Alan Scott is young, and presumably doesn't have any of that shiat going on, as he doesn't have his ring yet.

Probably not going to see Jade due to their hatred for legacy characters and his age.

Seriously? The first movie was bad enough to kill the franchise.

If they make him gay in a sequel, it will lose money.

James Robinson is writing it. He's the biggest pro-legacy guy you can find, so I wouldn't be so sure. Ideally, this book would have the characters age in real time, like the old school Earth 2 from before the Crisis.

Eh, I've ended up reading more series of theirs since the relaunch, so I think it was a good thing. Marvel needs to clean house in a similar way, even without a reboot.
