White Castle
Beni Hanas (sp)
Hard Rock Cafe

Benihana
Cici's (they can't even make their food look appetizing for commercials)
Golden Corral (but I have been to Old Country Buffet)
Five Guys

Carraba's
Wing Stop
P.F, Chang's

Quite a few places, but that's because they don't have any of their restaurants where I live.

Ruby Tuesday
Golden Corral
Whataburger
In-N-Out Burger
Chick-fil-A
Waffle House
Cracker Barrel
Checkers
Hardees
Popeyes
White Castle
Krystal Burger

I must eat out too much because I think I've at least gone once to most of them.

If you really want to meet the locals go to Waffle House. The food is ok and cooked where you can see it but usually there is some entertainment as well. Besides, if you are traveling on Christmas or Thanksgiving sometimes they are the only place open.

Never been to a Ruth's Chris though. Too pricey for my tastes.

I've never even been to a restaurant, much less a chain restaurant. I micro-brew my own probiotic protein fungus at home. I can't believe you suckers pay money to go out to eat.

2012-06-01 07:12:13 AM
Never been to a White Castle.

NannerPuss: And to answer the question, I've never been to a Waffle House, or a Popeye's Chicken.

I'm assuming you've never been to a Denny's, either, NannerPuss.

JerseyTim: I've never been inside a Red Lobster. I also haven't had McDonald's in over a decade.

It's been said on Fark before, but for some reason the quality of food in a McDonald's inside the USA seems to be much lower than the quality of food you'd get in a McDonald's outside the USA. I don't know why.

I've personally made it one of my goals in life to eat at a McDonald's in as many countries as possible, but I'm only up to 7 so far (and that's including the USA).

And before you say that's sad and pathetic and I should try the local food, I DO eat the local food. I just also visit a McDonald's if I'm in that country long enough.

/still might be sad and pathetic, though
//conversely, Subway outside the USA seems to be terrible

Does Starbucks count as a restaurant? Don't they sell cookies and shiat? I've never been to a Starbucks.

2012-06-01 08:57:58 AM
RexTalionis: Sonic - where the fark is it? It's on television advertising, but I can't find one anywhere.

You're a New Yorker, right? There's one in North Babylon in Long Island (near where I work), and there's a few in Northern Jersey.

NannerPuss: There are already a few instances in this thread of people putting "S" at the end of restaurant names where they don't belong and this is a big pet peeve of mine. Mostly because my father did it to everything.

It is not "Sonic's" or "Chipotle's" for example. "Chipotle's" especially bothers me because around here (the midwest) its rare enough that people even pronounce it correctly. People go around calling it "Chipoltie's," imagining that there is some guy out there name Juan Chipoltie that owns a burrito franchise that he named after himself. I don't know why but this fills me with disproportional amounts of rage and hatred.

And to answer the question, I've never been to a Waffle House, or a Popeye's Chicken.

And it's "Quiznos" for some reason, not "Quizno's". I don't know if there exists such a thing as a quizno, but whatever it is, it's probably salty as hell.

2012-06-01 09:01:06 AM
Swiss Chalet.

2012-06-01 09:06:23 AM
It would be easier for me to say which ones I have been to. I've been to a Chili's once against my will, White Castle and the usual suspects BK and McDonald's. I might have been to a Denny's, I'm not sure.

2012-06-01 09:07:45 AM
Ikam: MBK: I've never even SEEN a Waffle House for me to avoid and never go in.

Neither have I. I just did a search, the closest one to me is 162 miles away. I'd say it is pretty easy to avoid.

Closest one to me is about 2hrs away in St. Joseph, MO.

Honestly WF isn't bad. It's cheap and it's what you'd expect from a diner.

Anyway, I have never been to In N Out.

2012-06-01 09:13:56 AM
Never been to a Taco Bell and I never will.

Guess I'll be dining with Dennis Leary if they end up winning the Franchise Wars.

2012-06-01 09:51:58 AM
White Castle (none in town), Golden Coral, Red Robin (none in town), Del Taco (none in town), In-N-Out Burger (none in town), Krystal Burger, PF Changs (none in town)

So confused... On the main page this post says "strip clubs" but when clicked the thread headline says "chain restaurants.". How is this done? Farking magnets?

I could list Scores and Delilah's Den and successfully answer both... but that would be a lie since it's supposed to be places I *haven't* been....

2012-06-01 10:35:03 AM
I could list a lot of places that we just don't have in town. Of what's available:

PF Chang's

There's a very extensive list of places I've only been to once. (5 guys, Sonic, and Ruby Tuesday among others). Tried it, found no reason to go back.

2012-06-01 10:40:13 AM
Cheescake Factory
Medieval Times

2012-06-01 10:52:28 AM
it's funny how chain restaurants vary from region to region so we all read through eachother's lists and all have the same reaction of "holy shiat, you've never eaten at ______"

2012-06-01 10:53:41 AM
It's not Krystal Burger, it's Krystal.

From the chains that are here, never been to Macaroni Grill. I think that's the only one I haven't been to

2012-06-01 10:59:06 AM
No one GOES to Denny's. Somehow, you just end up there.

2012-06-01 11:00:40 AM
When I was in school in Lincoln, NE, in the mid '80s, there was a little drive-thru dive called the In-'n'-Out. It apparently bears no relation to the current chain burger joint. It was ice-cream-scoop sized balls of sloppy joe on a bun, for like $.50. However they also had onion chips (like rings, but not) that were to die for.

Obviously, I've never been to the current In-n-Out chain.
or White Castle (a good thing to miss, by all accounts)
or most of the other "must try" spots that pop up weekly: 5 Guys, Chuy's, PF Changs...
or Burger Chef (with or without Jeff).

2012-06-01 12:48:56 PM
This thread is not safe for diet.

2012-06-01 01:58:16 PM
It would be far easier for me to list the chains I've BEEN to:

Chili's (once about 15 years ago, never again)
Jack in the Box (have not been to one in 27 years, since there were aphids in the lettuce)
Red Lobster (for the "all you can eat" crab they had one summer and never had again maybe 7 years ago - got their VP fired, I think)
McDonald's (last time was at least a year ago, maybe longer - the "Angus" burger was so horrendous we've never been back)
Denny's (last time was nearly 29 years ago for breakfast on the way to the hospital for tests, pregnant with my daughter)
In N Out (last time was 4 years ago on the way down to SoCal to visit my kid and son-in-law - decent burgers, fresh tasting, which is a distinct improvement over McDonald's)
IHOP (one time 5 years ago on the way back from visiting the kids - could not have been more "meh")
Carl's Jr. (at least 3 years ago - burgers are belly bombs but the shakes are quite yummy)

I'd like to try Sonic, especially some of their drinks, but I have never in my life seen one. Likewise 5 Guys.

We either don't have some of these chain places (Cracker Barrel) or we've never had a reason to try them (traveling and need food). We simply don't eat out very much, especially nowadays, and when we do eat out, we like to go to non-chain places, like Lilly Kai in Petaluma. The duck salad there is to die for (or rather, as my husband put it when he took his first bite, "Oh, okay, I guess I'll stay alive a while longer). Or Lee's Noodle House in Santa Rosa with totally delicious Pho and pork skin noodle dish. Why would we eat greasy, disappointing burgers when we could eat Vietnamese or Chinese food or Thai food?

texdent: hng: Smell the Glove: In N Out is overrated

true dat.

Very true.

Still better than Burger King/McDonalds/Carls/Wendy's

silvervial: IHOP (one time 5 years ago on the way back from visiting the kids - could not have been more "meh")

I went there once. They served me a stack of pancakes on a plate the size of the pancakes. I asked the waitress for a bigger plate, so I could actually add syrup to the stack. Waitress refused, saying it was policy. I said "no problem. I then poured the same amount of syrup I would normally use all over the stack, and all over the table. I then got up, paid the bill and left, without eating a bite. This was the first (and only) place I have ever stiffed a waitress for a tip.

PYROY: Does Starbucks count as a restaurant? Don't they sell cookies and shiat? I've never been to a Starbucks.

I haven't either, but I also don't consider Starbucks to be a restaurant. They're a coffeehouse/coffee shop that sells a limited amount of foodstuffs.

I sound fat but here is the list of restaurant chains in the US I've been to 126 out of 243

I've never purposely eaten at a Dairy Queen. Not sure if it qualifies as a "popular" chain restaurant but nevertheless, I've never eaten there. It's more interesting because that was the meeting point in high school to find out where the party was for that night. It was called a "DQ flyby."

Ah, and to rank the best national fast food places based on a combination of value, speed, menu variety and taste/quality.

There are 3 tiers

1st tier this means you can't really go wrong if you pick to eat here. If you are indecisive about what you want this is the best place (Lots of choices, fast, fair prices, top quality)
1) Culver's
2) Panda Express
3) Wendy's

2nd tier are places that do specific things well or you have to be in a specific mood for.
1) A&W (Cheese curds)
2) KFC (Hot wings) You wouldn't expect it but they are the best I've ever had, I'm a fan of sauce-less crispy wings with the spice in the breading.
3) Sonic (Cherry-apple slush, Oceanwater drinks, burgers and chicken are crap get a hotdog)
4) Chipotle
5) Fazolis
6) White Casle
7) El Pollo Loco

3rd tier are places that are above the average, but have other flaws to keep them out of the top tier
1) In N Out
2) Schlotsky's
3) Whataburger
4) Rally's

Places that used to be 3rd tier but recently dropped off.
1) Jack in the box (sirloin burger is lower quality, price increases shrunk their value menu)
2) Carl's Jr ( the $6 burger used to be $3 and have higher quality meat, now it is $6 and indistinguishable from their other burgers except served on a slightly larger bun)
3) Burger King (removed burger shots and stopped selling ribs)

2012-06-01 10:49:54 PM
Excluding places that dont exist where I live, I have not been to Chipotle, 5 guys, el pollo loco, sonic, DQ, IHOP, PF Changs, del taco, popeyes, ruby tuesday, golden corral, benihanas, hard rock cafe, waffle house or hooters.

2012-06-01 11:53:20 PM
I've never gone to Golden Corral, Texas Roadhouse or Sonic. There are probably many other chains without a presence in my state that I've never gone into.

2012-06-02 12:33:19 AM
I've never been to a chain restaurant. I also grow all my own food, which I water with the tears of fairies, and I don't know what a TV is.

2012-06-02 07:52:14 PM
Mostly out of area places:

Carls Jr
Jack in the Box
In N Out Burger

2012-06-02 08:25:55 PM
I've never been to a Wendy's, and I catch a lot of surprise with that one.
