I think I remember thinking that same thing when this dude showed up and replaced Kevin Rose but I honestly can't remember and don't care.

I tried to watch G4 a few times when I had cable. It seemed like the volume was always at 25% of what every other station was.

ZDTV/TechTV was the reason that I had the premium cable package back in the 90s. Call For Help was probably one of the most informative shows ever, and definately the leader in computer technology.

G4 is a joke, and the worst part is that it was all intentional.

Yeah, haven't watched G4 since they killed TechTV, with the exception of E3 coverage. And even that has only been watchable the last few years, when they finally stopped interrupting the press conferences at key points with commercial breaks.

I understand the old-god internet hatred for G4 ("You ruined my TechTV you snot nosed kids!!"), but AOTS was one of the very few redeeming gems on the channel. Kevin is a great live TV host and has been the only thing holding the show together. A host who truly appears to love his job is very rare. Unfortunately, it looks like this will pave the way for the last good gaming/geek-entertainment show to be diluted to nothing more than pandering to 15 yr olds who want to stare at hot chicks and whine over electronics they want mommy to buy for them.
This move will truly be the death of all that was still good from G4.

TechTV couldn't survive because it 1) actually reviewed stuff critically while demonstrating 2) it was possible to understand this stuff on a deep level.

#1 pissed off manufacturers as potential advertisers and #2 pissed off the big boxes as advertisers as it demonstrated that their sales monkeys were idiots.

I've never liked Pereira, the smarmy cockstain. He's one of the tools who twisted The Screen Savers into the crap that it is today. This is good news.

And, with Sessler gone (how am I just learning about this?), I now have no reason to hope for any good will for any show on that damn network. Rot in hell, G4.

Thank goodness that they all live on through podcasts. I still tune into TWiT from time to time. And Morgan Webb. :)

Sad to see him go. The show won't be the same without him.

Chris Hardwick has been mentioned as a replacement. I think it's just a matter of time before he actually gets his own channel. I find most of he podcasts he has help put together on his network to be informative and very entertaining, as are his new YouTube shows.

Screensavers, Call for Help, the news show with Erica Hill, the one about audio gadgets, X-Play before Webb, and many other shows were on constant rotation in my room when I was growing up, that channel consumed almost all of my TV watching time. When G4 took over, I watched maybe 3 episodes of random crap and never turned it on again.

Judgement Day was a much better review show than X-Play (though morgan webb is better on the eyes) and Cinematech was my favorite show. If only they would return to their old format.

OMG I forgot about Cinematech. I loved that show. I also remembered a bad "cartoon" show where they had a live actor interacting with characters from MMOs... I was so addicted to that show and now I cannot remember it's name.

Also of note, Mr. Sark (of Machinima "fame") used to work for G4, and recalled quite... fondly of his days at G4 at this point in this video.

I'd rather he just keep with the Nerdist stuff and keep control of what he does. I enjoy the podcasts and YouTube channel stuff for the most part (Celebrity Bowling can be farking hilarious) and would hate to see it suffer if his attention got pulled away to G4 stuff.
