I guess they don't teach you that at Harvard?

They teach SOCIALISM at Harvard! That's why he gives the ball to the opposing team so much.

What the hell is wrong with the Jets? They finally get some success and they end up farking it all up. Sanchez isn't that good so eventually they will start Tebow. Tebow isn't that good, so I don't see him getting farther than Sanchez did. He ain't winning a Super Bowl. So at the end of the season they are right back to square one. Maybe they think attention whoring is better than winning titles.

Seriously, look at him. He's trying so hard to get your attention he may hurt himself if you don't at least give him a glance.

This year and next and then the honeymoon ends if it actually hasn't already. His BS will only get him so far and I think even the organization is tired of it much like the rest of the league

I think last year was mostly lost due to front-office missteps. I'm mainly talking about keeping Santonio Holmes instead of Braylon Edwards (who did real well in their system in 2010, with some spectacular catches), and then replacing Edwards with a just-out-of-prison Plaxico Burress. Also, Wayne Hunter replaced Damien Woody at right tackle, and turned out to be an absolute disaster. If they were able to keep Sanchez on his feet instead of scrambling all the time, they might have made the postseason.

And Schotty. Man, I hate that guy.

Is it surprising? Most NY teams are more concerned with being on the back page of the Post than actually winning. The Giants seem to the the exception to this rule.

If Teebs takes over from Sanchez during the season the Jets might as well blow it all up and fire Rex as well. For as erratic and mediocre as Sanchez is, Tebow is worse. Tebow doesn't even get to mediocre; he's erratic and usually bad.

The only benefit is NYC doesn't have the same evangelical mob that Colorado does, so there won't be as much fan sabotage as there was in Denver.

How is that, since he hasn't started his 3rd year in the league, and didn't get all the OTA's and mini camps and training camp before last season. Anyone who isn't a complete dumbfark can watch video and see his motion got quicker over the offseason.

bel4sucks: How is that.........

Oh just stop it. If he turns it around and gets another shot, good for him. But if he doesn't get another start... too bad. Plenty of guys who sucked less than Tebow never had half the shot he's had. Now I happen to like the guys' character and work ethic, but he cannot complain about not getting a shot. He was handed a team and sort of stunk it up. Lots and lots of really talented people only got one shot to screw up. Lots of other talented guys never get a shot at all so quit whining already. Nobody owes Tebow another chance - if he gets it, good for him and I hope he makes the most of it but the line for these 32 jobs is extremely crowded with very capable people.

Stop watching ESPN and you won't have anything to biatch about. It's so funny, I have to go out of my way to see sports highlights, yet some of you biatch because you're SOOOOO inundated with coverage. Why is it that so many of you miss the simplest answer?

Put lipstick on that pig to your heart's delight but losing four of your last five with the worst completion percentage in recent memory speaks for itself. That line against kc (6/22, 60 yds, no TD's, 1 INT) is in the conversation for the worst qb line I've ever seen and I'm old. I mean the 13/29 3 pick performance the week before was certainly horrible but I can't recall a qb only completing six passes in the modern era so I have to move that one to the top. If Oakland had beaten San Diego that week and Denver hadn't backed in on the strength of three consecutive embarrassing losses we would most certainly not be having this conversation. Just admit you're in the bag for the guy for jesus-related reasons. I'm fine with that.

pion: I think Flacco went 4-10 in a playoff game a few years back. I'm pretty sure he was playing hurt, though.

That's pretty bad. But way out of the norm for him. Tebow laid those three consecutive eggs to close out the regular season. They were all 'must-win' games... they were just fortunate that their competitors lost as well. Nevertheless we keep hearing - 'he just wins'. If Flacco had combined that with the worst yds/gm AND the worst cmpl pct among all qb's who qualified to be ranked he would no longer be a starting qb. Nor would anyone want him to be. He doesn't have a poster of Footsteps next to his bed or a chastity ring.

That's the thing. There are actually a lot of good QBs in the league right now relative to the past. Tebow and Sanchez (and Yates) are not on that list.

I'd have to agree with that. The qb market has softened quite a bit. Lots of young guys on the way up right now and a ton more on the way.

Why give a crappy QB a lot of starts? Maybe if they stopped draftng noodle-armed QBs like Quinn and McCoy, then they wouldn't have to turn to another option after a season and a half of terrible play.

Unfortunately "competent quarterback" is not on that list.

Give him some time an he could become a good addition to a defense heavy team with a strong rushing offense or as a backup who can completely change the pace of the game. But he will never be a star passer, which is what most teams are looking for today.

2012-06-01 06:58:36 PM
And by giving him time, it is as a second or third stringer and getting plenty of practice reps. Not starting.

They'll be calling Weeden "noodle-armed" in 10 months when it's turned to mush by the turnstile right side of the line and the inability of any of the WRs to get open, ever.

It ain't the arm that doomed McCoy or Quinn. It was the fact that the only one of their wideouts that would make another NFL roster would make it only because of his return abilities.

I think that should be "a joker, a smoker or a midnight toker", but frankly I don't care what you call him, I'm just glad that we got to say Good Bye! And I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the Jets and the Colts. We may not win the Super Bowl, but I think it's going to be an interesting and hopefully entertaining year.

The WRs are bad, but having one of the worst starting QBs lobbing balls in their general directions did not help things either. Even with all of the legitimate excuses you can find, both Quinn and McCoy did not play at anything approaching average QB play.

It is the arm that primarily doomed Quinn and McCoy. The Browns WRs didn't put Quinn at the bottom of Denver's depth chart and then off the team where they didnt even want him as a backup. If McCoy was shopped around, the return would be next to nothing for the same reason.

Well, then, neither has Sam Bradford of the Rams. He has pretty much identical stats to McCoy over the same two years. What's the Rams' excuse for keeping him, other than the fact that he was a #1 pick?
