Are you kidding? All the Laker car window flags are being replaced by Kings ones now. Even if they win the Cup, the center divide of 710, 60, and 2 will be littered with those things in two to three weeks.

At least LA is giving a damn about them. The Kings deserve it even if it is a bunch of bandwagon fans.

And c'mon WABC. You're not New York's #1 news station because you guys slack off on the most basic of details. I mean the other team is in your farking market. I know there's 3 NHL teams to cover in your market but c'mon!

The Kings are actually the only team in LA proper that get respect from outsiders for their fans. And they sell really well.

When are they finally going to move from Sacramento. I've got my money on the Kings coming back to KC

I'm a Blues fan and even though I saw my team go through a mercy killing by the Kings, they were a great team to watch and I'm rooting for them.

Jesus, it's like 1983 or 1984 or something. But I'm glad the Islanders have left us with the playoff beard...

Who the hell knows? The Maloofs enraged the community by playing all sorts of BS games with the city over the arena issue, and now are playing nice only because they are broke and cannot move the team if they wanted to. They won't sell the team, so they're stuck at Worthless Bracelet Pavilion for the foreseeable future.

They should move if they get the chance. Sacramento is a dead town that only appears alive because it's still twitching. Military - all three major bases are gone. Government - it's getting drowned in the Prop 13 bathtub. Agriculture - nowhere close to what it was just 30 years ago. Within a decade we'll end up like Stockton.

That's depressing.

It always seems to be going back and forth between the two parties that I'm surprised Kings fans have put up with this BS as long as they have.

Top-rated markets for Game 1:

1. Buffalo - 7.8/12
2. New York - 5.1/8
t3. Los Angeles - 4.2/8
t3. Minneapolis/St. Paul - 4.2/8
t5. Pittsburgh - 3.5/6
t5. Oklahoma City - 3.5/5

How often does it happen that neither of the two markets involved are the top-rated market for a championship series game? Buffalo is clearly the best hockey market in the US. Even Bettman agrees.

Also, an NBA semi-final game involving two out-of-market teams (Boston-Miami) beat Devils-Kings in both the New York and Los Angeles markets. Despite the fact that the NBA game was on cable and the NHL game was on a broadcast network (NBC).

That's just embarrassing for those two markets. You have a team playing for a championship. Watch them.

It's even more embarrassing when you consider that those are the top two markets period, meaning that as a percentage of market, that's a pretty lame showing.

/Philly didn't crack the top 5 either

I've lived in NYC for 13 years. I read the papers, I watch the local TV, I listen to the radio.

New York is not even close to being a hockey town. Trust me on that.

This.

Detroit is a hockey town. Boston and Philly do well to support all four major sports (don't know about MLS). L.A. is Lakers and U.S.C. first with a bunch of life-long* fans of the other local teams. New York is, first and foremost, a Yankee town. Rangers are waaay down the list unless they're in the finals.

* You'll hear this a dozen times a day when the teams are winning. When they're struggling, you'll never hear word one about them.

Completely agree. Coverage is piss poor. It's a good thing that the Nets and Knicks suck, or hockey would barely get a mention on the back pages of the Metro or AM New York.

Since it's NY and there's an infinite number of people, there's a ton of committed Rangers fans. But the Rangers get almost no coverage, that's definitely true.

Apart from you, I've never met a Canadian that's immediately hostile to Americans.

I don't count residents of Quebec as they are actually French.

Go Devils, make LA earn it. Since LA didn't earn this during the normal season.

But French is an official language in Canada so you have to recognize them as Canadians.
I'm not going to say Spanish Americans are not really Americans because they don't speak English.
That is pretty lame. I don't attack languages, just idiots.

ontariolightning: I'm not going to say Spanish Americans are not really Americans because they don't speak English.

What the hell is a Spanish American, mate? I'm assuming you are referencing former Mexican or Spanish citizens who have undergone the process of becoming a citizen and not a short war used as a warm up in the early 20th century for the first World War.

We have really have four categories here in Estat Unidos: Citizens, Immigrants (possessing a visa or resident alien card), Tourists (possessing a tourist visa) and Illegal Immigrants. Once you become a citizen, you are indelibly American in the eyes of the law. For the most part the hyphenation you see is a political divide used to create artificial wedges between citizens, past the first generation it's fairly ludicrous to hyphenate your nationality. I'm an Australian-American, my child is an American.

I stand by my theory that the French aren't people. I blame my Australian upbringing.

knightofargh: I blame my Australian upbringing.

But Australia isn't as connected to France historically as say the U.S and Canada so why are you so against the French? All that connects you two in the past is that 45,000 Australians died in battles in France during WW2. which is hardly a reason to hold a grudge over another group of people.

In fact, you should be more offended at the Germans.. they are the ones who killed your people.
But I am sure you hold no ill will toward them.

Since making the playoffs isn't earning it? The Presidents' Trophy recipients(who is apparently who "earned it") have only won the Stanley Cup 7 times out of the ~26 years it's been awarded.

Anti American attitude is prevalent throughout Canada
its in our media, entertainment, everyday lives.. "stupid american" is a common term here in Canada
in fact our national identity is "hey, we're not american"

A half-dozen good friends wanted to be in the courtroom to see me take my oath. As I sat on one of the many long benches, along with the other immigrants, I looked over at my friends waiting in the wings, acting up and enjoying the experience.

I realized they were a large part of why I decided to become an American.

So basically he found better friends in America than he had in Canada.

Only when it comes to Americans. We are quite fine with the rest of the world. Most of us even have sympathy for Iran and how they are being bullied by the U.S
