All this would have been funnier if he actually became our VP.

Hrm. Unfortunate, but being a raging douchebag is not against the law. I had wondered if this would be the outcome.

Being a douchebag unfortunately isn't illegal.

That's been the general consensus on the legal blogs I read.

However, you will be pleased to know his vanity project here at UNC-Chapel Hill (the Center for Poverty, Work and Opportunity) is still in existence, and still providing crony jobs on the taxpayer's dime. It's not like he's going to be doing without his lunch money.

Can this dude just disappear now? I at least liked Spitzer and Weiner. Edwards at his best was meh.

2012-05-31 04:47:33 PM
Good, at least this time around the jury was smart enough to publish its findings, otherwise the prosecutor would have them all stuck in a recursive loop.....

Doesn't a mistrial allow for a re-trial on those 5 other counts?

Not on the charge he was acquitted of, but he certainly could be on the 5 the jury hung on. Whether the prosecutors will do so is an entirely different matter.

It might not be illegal, but it doesn't help when it comes to the jury.

Probably only in Edwards-bashers wet dreams - not much point in trying again, just a waste of money.

This was just another Obama inside job. He made one of this cadre of white women have sex with Edwards because Obama knew he couldn't defeat him one-on-one.

I think the saddest part of this is that noone will be surprised by this verdict.

Can't they give him the death penalty just for sh*ts & grins?

Say, did you guys know that John Edwards is the son of a mill worker?

2012-05-31 04:51:43 PM
I figured if the jury could separate his behavior as a husband from what they were there to decide he would be acquitted. After all the facts are that the Bunny Mellon chick gave the money that this whole thing was about to him, and she even paid gift taxes on it, not his campaign.

It's also possible the man isn't legally guilty.

No, there was a mistrial in 5 of 6 of the counts and a not guilty verdict on one. I'm curious to know what he was found not guilty of.

Obama made the jury give a mistrial so that he could get all the trial lawyer money. Because everyone knows that John Edwards controls every trial lawyer in America.

2012-05-31 04:55:18 PM
Oh, come now. He's guilty of more than that, unless you're using douche bag in as a catch-all.

You have to be president to do that.
