This one could have been vaguely interesting. TV is not exactly saturated with the trials and tribulations of transgendered people.

But I expect to get a huge kick out of this thread anyway...

The only reality show I'd be interested in watching is called "Tits or GTFO".

Maybe. I'll agree that there is the potential to make something interesting out of the difficult challenges a transgendered person goes through. In all reality though, the show would probably just boil down to penis jokes, "Dude Looks Like A Lady" sound tracks, and fights/tears every three minutes. One less crappy-ass reality show down, 500 to go.

It was the one reality show I've considered watching since INXS chose their new singer. Though most of her trials and tribulations are probably done with at this point; as I understand it she's well past "the hard part" of the transition (coming out, being visually half male & half female, dealing with voice training, etc).

I have a friend that was followed around a store by two teens the other day. They kept trying to surreptitiously take pictures of her. It'd be nice if there was a show that could teach kids that this kind of behavior is rude, since their parents obviously didn't bother teaching them.

There's too much of a risk that the person in question would off themselves from the negative attention.

Yeah, but it really wouldn't be the trials and tribulations of a transgendered person. It would be the trials and tribulations of a transgendered BEAUTY QUEEN! As if they are ever going to make a show about normal, work a day person who happens to be transgendered.

Meh, Australia and Britain have already done exploitative reality shows with transgendered MTF folks. If anything, it was probably cancelled because the idea's goddamned boring.

Logo already runs shows dealing with this. And saying that she's well past "the hard part" of transition is like saying Michael Phelps is well past "the hard part" of learning to swim. She was lucky enough to transition early enough that the effects of testosterone were just starting (she started HRT at 14 and had full-blown SRS at 19).

I don't want to downplay the difficulties of gender dysphoria, but between Jenna's genetic gifts and her luck to be born to a family that was supportive enough to let her transition very early, she's far from the poster-child for the trials and tribulations of transition.

Shaw cancelled the show cuz they don't like Indians... feathers not dots.

I believe she is from the Burns Lake First Nation.

I can't remember which Farker said it, I think it might have been in the Hatfield & McCoys thread, but can we have one station devoted to nothing but reality shows so that this shiat can get off all the other channels? I'm sure there's more than enough to sustain its own network. I'd like to be able to watch network TV again.

Does it? My provider doesn't supply Logo.

And yeah... that was pretty much my point. I wouldn't be a good choice for the poster-child either; while I have had some difficulties, my transition itself has been remarkably smooth, and I am (aside from being 6'3) remarkably female appearing (in one situation, someone pointed to me while I was talking to a friend and told another person "she's trans"... the person approached, and asked my cis friend how her transition had been going.)

Interesting but doing nothing to help Transgendered in the eyes of the public. Has any reality show ever made anyone look good? It would have been exploitation anyways because a reality show is cheaper to produce than a tv comedy or drama.

Yeah, but transgendered (which is just a fancy way of saying gay) people are disgusting. TV is for beautiful people only. If I want to see ugly people, I'd just walk outside or look in the mirror.

Keep TV beautiful, I say.
