Phil Mickelson has shown interest in joining a group to buy this "team". I guess Phil thinks that baseball is like golf, and the lowest score wins.

Are they hiring Dave Duncan as pitching coach?

Omg, two out of the seven starters! Deadspin must hire the retards that ESPN and talk radio rejects.

Wainright wasn't yet a starter in '06?

I honestly checked out of the 2006 playoff season and remember next to nothing about anything about it.

Killer Cars: Wainright wasn't yet a starter in '06?

Wainwright was key out of pen. 2006 Cards were better than people give them credit for. They sufferred through a horrific stretch of injuries to get healthy in September and sneek into the playoffs with just 83 wins. Beat the Padres, Mets, and Tigers to capture the WS. The starting pitching was bad but, considering who they were throwing out there, who would have expected better? Some of those crappy pitchers came up big in the post season (Weaver & Reyes)

They'd have better luck trying to re-unite the pieces of Dave Dravecky's arm.

WTF Indeed: Omg, two out of the seven starters! Deadspin must hire the retards that ESPN and talk radio rejects.

Read the whole article, genius. Suppan is in the rotation, while Marquis, Wells, and Reyes are all at triple A. Ponson and Mulder are retired, Carpenter is on the Cards' DL.

scandalrag: The best description of Jeff Suppan I have ever seen Link

It seems to me like he's going to be a hell of a color man on TV somewhere in the next couple of years. I still find it hard to believe some of the gems he threw for the Cardinals after being basically the world's most average player his entire career.

As a Padres "fan", I can only laugh at this news. San Diego has been getting boned for years as far as baseball goes.

Please, someone else buy the team. You can't do any worse.
