It would be interesting to know what he had been in jail for.

Isn't ensuring that a passenger holds a ticket the responsibility of the airlines themselves?

Probably, but the TSA won't let you enter any terminals without a boarding pass.

You'd think so, but you'd be wrong.

It's so easy a child can do it....twice.

Adults can fly too, not only without a valid boarding pass but with no ID

And it's not an isolated event

Well I feel safe from terror.

2012-05-31 10:06:11 AM
Well, at least they made the ticketed passengers, who had been through security screening already, go through security screening again.

See? The system works.

Bathia_Mapes: It would be interesting to know what he had been in jail for.

Probably child molestation, making unwanted physical advances, voyeurism and being an ignoramus with power issues.

The TSA recognized one of their own and gave him a pass.

At least he won the bet with the other inmates.

It's all Security Theater, anyway.

2012-05-31 11:55:34 AM
And they'll say more security is needed and screen everyone else twice as much.

Hooray.

I'm tired of the TSA. Can we reboot now?

And didn't we just learn TSA wants to double their fees?

A man released from jail on Memorial Day wound up boarding a plane without a ticket

The man was escorted off the plane peacefully. He was arrested and is now in jail.

He boarded the plane because he wanted to go back home, to jail.

They've been known to take bribes to let things like drug mules through. Wouldn't surprise me to find out the screener was paid to let him through.

Who give a flying Fark about having an ID? The 9/11 hijackers HAD THEIR IDs.

This bureaucratic ruse is just to make the sheeple feel the government's "doing something".

Demanding ID is as useless a security distraction as is taking off shoes or throwing away EMPTY containers over 3oz in size.

"You can't tke that empty through security."

"But I can go past security, buy a bottle of water and empty it, and voilá, I have an empty bottle past security."

* blank stare from mouth-breathing drone *

But after a headcount of passengers, the air waitresses (God, do NOT call them that...Not if you value being able to make the rest of your flight cavity search free) realised they had one too many passenegers and fixed the situation.

I imagine it went something like this:

Hopefully at 35,000 feet.

That's why they are doubling the fees...to stop events like this from happening again.
Because if they had twice the money they could...well... Fark you. Thats why.

Yup. If they had twice the money they could make the disabled boy crawl through the security scanner without the use of his prosthesis OR the help of his crying mother even MORE TIMES! We're saving lives here!

*eyeroll*

Before he was escorted away, he managed to carve "BROOKS WAS HERE" in the side of one of the TSA nude-o-scope scanners.

It's good to know you can just skip the security line.

I'm morbidly waiting for the first 75 year old man to get sick of the TSA shenanigans and actually bring a bomb onto a plane. The type of attention a story like that would get would be colossal.

"What if he had a bomb?" indeed.

2012-05-31 12:20:41 PM
It's that time of year when I have to point out that the security measures are mostly useless because time and again, people get on board with contraband "by accident".

Which can only mean that if someone were trying to actually get things onto a plane to do something terroristical they would sometimes succeed "by accident".

Yet no planes are hijacked or fall from the skies.

/If I have to explain further there is no purpose in doing so.

I think it's more likely that someone will bring a bomb to blow up the TSA checkpoint rather than the plane itself.

Then we'll get a round of TSA checkpoints before you can get to the checkpoint.

Now you'll need to be screened before you can park your car. WHERE WILL IT END??

Read the article... sounds like the guy didnt bother going through security at all, he just walked out onto the tarmac and boarded the plane through a service door.

The illusion of security.

Oh god! The "TSAL", it would prob have more insane rules. No touching, or moving of the eyes, and for safety the line couldn't wrap but only be single file for as far as the eye can see.

TSA? Flying from SD to LA takes about 5 minutes. It is set up more like a bus terminal. Actually, most bus stations are larger.

I agree, the commuter terminal there is a joke, and in fact, the denver greyhound station is bigger.
