Well, at least this time it will definitely be Bush's fault.

Grow up, tardmitter. Do you prefer a world where we always act like uncivil asshats?

It's a proper honor for the former leader of our country, whether we liked his policies or not. Don't criticize a guy for showing a little class.

The only Bipartisanship DC will see until at least January 20, 2017

I thought Obama came out in favor of guy marriage because he didn't like bush

Just 'cause you disagree with a guy, it doesn't mean he's an asshat and you can never be civil towards him ever, or even friends. Cripes, there's even old married couples, 40 yrs plus, that can't agree on anything.

You're right its not like he is responsible for the deaths of thousands of American soldiers or that he is largely responsible for out pathetic economic condition at the moment.

Yeah, but obamas a killer too so I don't know why you think that would make their meeting awkward.

Barack Obama is a civil, classy individual. He may personally loathe and despise George W. Bush, much like all rational-thinking people in this country, but it's one President honoring another President, and sometimes you have to put the personal aside in order TO DO YOUR FARKING JOB. That's what Obama is doing. His job. Just like when Obama's terms are over, and the next President brings him back to the White House to unveil HIS portrait and the whole nine yards.

Christ Almighty, people.

I've grown to like Bush a lot more since he left office. Most of the jackasses that worked for him "Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld, etc) have taken every opportunity to criticize and undermine Obama. Every time Bush has been asked what his thoughts are on something Obama did, he says something like "I've been in the limelight enough. It's his turn to make decisions and it's not my place to publicly criticize him." He's one of the few people from his administration that has shown any class during the last 3.5 years; the rest are petulant children throwing a tantrum after their toy was taken away from them.

No. This is different. A LOT different. This goes WAY beyond personal dislikes or partisanship.

Face it: the man is a war criminal. Anybody that doesn't acknowledge that blindingly obvious fact is either an idiot or very deep in denial. You don't "honor" war criminals.

As for Obama, my biggest beef with him-- by a huge margin-- is his abject refusal to do even the slightest thing to address the crimes of the previous administration.

Because of that's action, the president is now set: future administrations are now free to torture, kidnap and lock people up forever without trial or even charges brought. Because of that inaction, future administrations are now free to start wars of aggression with absolutely NO consequences.

Yes, avoiding his solmn duty to uphold the law was the politically smart thing for Obama to do in the short term, but it utterly kills a BIG portion of America's soul in the process.

FARK you, Obama. Fark you.

There seems to kind of an unwritten rule of respect among former Presidents, regardless of party. Not that they don't criticize each other, but I don't remember Presidents really taking the gloves off on each other. Like they all know how much of a sacrifice the job was to their lives and family by being exposed for years in the public eye.

Obama has been in office for 3 1/2 years. 5 trillion in debt later, consumer confidence if going down, Unemployment is 8+ and the misery index is 10+. History says large downturns create good upturns, the bounceback. We should be well on our way to recovery, but it is not happening with the Obama Administration. It really is time to quit blaming Bush.

The ideas of the 'do nothings' during the Clinton administration are responsible for over 3,000 deaths.

It's a can of worms we can't open.

We're a country of war criminals. Our history for over the last half century has included illegally funding militant rebels in other countries, fomenting revolution and overthrowing democratic governments, and attempted assassination of foreign leaders. We'd have to posthumously try everyone from Reagan to Eisenhower, even Carter. It's like people have only just started to notice.

The pin has to stay in that grenade lest we blow up everything we've pretended to stand for.

How so? You either choose to do something or do nothing. They are both choices and the resulting outcomes are tied back to the original choice. I liked Clinton, I voted for Clinton, life was pretty good under Clinton, he seriously dropped the ball when it comes to Bin Laden.

2012-05-31 12:57:10 PM
From TFA: Only 44 men in history, and five men alive, have held the job.

*BZZZZZT!* Wrong.

43 men have been president of the independent nation known as the United States of America. Grover Cleveland served two non-consecutive 4-year terms. He was the 22nd and the 24th POTUS.

If you want to ask the question, "How many times has a person been sworn in as POTUS?" then that's a different story. Cleveland took the oath twice, which means that the oath has been given 44 times.

/Sorry, pet peave.

Obama rode a wave of history in 08, that does not apply to 2012. It will be a close race and if the economy does not get allot better fast, Obama could very well lose.
